Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski underwent successful surgery on his left arm Monday afternoon. SOURCE: Profootballtalk, NBC Sports
Insight: The good news is that the infection has subsided, which means that this will probably be the last procedure Gronkowski will need on his injured forearm. Now the attention shifts to Gronkowski's back, which might also require surgery. A Week 1 return is still possible for Gronk but it's probably going to go right down to the wire.

Description: More bad news for Rob Gronkowski fantasy owners. Not only does the Patriots tight end need arm surgery but it also looks like he'll need surgery on his back. SOURCE: ESPN
Insight: The Patriots are still optimistic that Gronk will be ready for Week 1 but given what's already unfolded this offseason, that's no guarantee. Danny Amendola and Aaron Hernandez will both see more targets if Gronkowski ends up missing time in the regular season.

5/16/2013 9:59:00 PM
Description: NFL.com is reporting that New England tight end Rob Gronkowski will have a fourth surgery on his injured forearm.
Insight: Gronkowski will probably need about ten weeks to recover. He'll almost certainly miss the beginning of training camp and it's possible he might not be ready for the Pats' season opener September 8th against Buffalo.

Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski will undergo two weeks of antibiotic treatment on his left arm. SOURCE: Boston Globe
Insight: If there's no infection, he'll have the plate removed from his arm and his rehab will go on as planned. If the infection is still there, Gronkowski would likely have a fifth arm surgery and could miss the early portion of the 2013 regular season.

5/8/2013 8:06:00 PM
Description: According to the Boston Herald, New England tight end Rob Gronkowski will need to have a fourth surgery on his broken forearm.
Insight: That's not what Patriots fans wanted to hear. There's no guarantee that he'll be back in time for Week 1.

5/5/2013 3:57:00 PM
Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski still isn't sure if he'll need another surgery on his left arm. SOURCE: ESPN Boston
Insight: Gronkowski has already encountered multiple setbacks in his recovery from a broken arm. No news is good news and since we haven't heard much about Gronk's recovery over the last month, we'll assume he's on the comeback trail.

4/11/2013 3:32:00 PM
Description: New England tight end Rob Gronkowski is going to wait a few weeks for his infection to go away before deciding whether or not to have another surgery on his left arm. SOURCE: Boston Herald
Insight: There's two ways Gronkowski owners can take this news. The glass half full people will say that at least Gronk isn't going for surgery, which would probably knock him out until September at the earliest. The glass half empty argument would be that if Gronk waits a few weeks and then decides to have surgery, he's going to miss a significant chunk of the regular season. Hopefully Gronkowski won't need surgery but he's certainly not out of the woods just yet.

4/7/2013 3:45:00 PM
Description: Patriots All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowksi has encountered yet another setback in his recovery from a broken arm.
Insight: ESPN Boston is reporting that Gronkowski may have suffered another infection, which would prompt another surgery on his left forearm. If Gronkowski does need another surgery, he could be sidelined for the start of the regular season.

2/25/2013 8:21:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that New England tight end Rob Gronkowski recently underwent a third surgery on his broken left arm, this time to cure an infection.
Insight: Apparently doctors were able to catch the infection early so Gronkowski should still be on track to return before the start of training camp. Crisis averted. Let the Summer of Gronk (or whatever season this is) continue.

1/17/2013 6:06:00 PM
Description: The Patriots officially placed tight end Rob Gronkowksi on injured reserve on Thursday. Gronkowski broke his arm in Sunday's win against the Texans.
Insight: This is just a formality. We already knew Gronkowski would miss the rest of the postseason. With Gronk sidelined, Aaron Hernandez will be New England's featured tight end Sunday in the AFC Championship.

1/14/2013 10:25:00 AM
Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is headed for another surgery on his broken left arm and will miss the remainder of the postseason.
Insight: Although it should be a huge blow to the offense, the team has averaged 34 points and 417 yards in the five games Gronkowski was sidelined. On Sunday they featured Wes Welker, Aaron Hernandez and even split out Shane Vereen. Tom Brady has plenty of receiving talent and the injury to Gronkowski likely won't slow this offense down.

1/13/2013 7:42:00 PM
Description: NBC's Pro Football Talk is reporting that Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is headed for another surgery on his broken left arm. He's out for the remainder of the postseason.
Insight: That's a huge blow but the Patriots have enough depth at tight end and wide receiver to overcome this. Expect Aaron Hernandez to see plenty of targets from Tom Brady next week when New England hosts Baltimore in the AFC Championship.

1/13/2013 6:49:00 PM
Description: New England tight end Rob Gronkowski will not return from the arm injury he suffered in the first quarter of Sunday's game against Houston.
Insight: Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez are both having big games in Gronkowski's absence. The Patriots have an embarrassment of riches in the receiving corps and a quarterback headed for the Hall of Fame so Gronk's injury doesn't necessarily ruin New England's chances of getting back to the Super Bowl.

1/13/2013 5:07:00 PM
Description: Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski appeared to reinjure his arm early in Sunday's game against Houston. He's headed to the locker room.
Insight: That's the last thing Patriots fans wanted to hear. Brandon Lloyd and Aaron Hernandez will both be asked to play bigger roles in the New England offense if Gronkowski can't come back into the game.

1/11/2013 12:40:00 PM
Description: New England tight end Rob Gronkowski (forearm, hip) is probable for Sunday's AFC Divisional Playoff against Houston.
Insight: Gronkowski came out of the season finale against Miami without any incident. He played just 24 of 75 plays that day, but we expect that the two-week rest will allow him to be on the field for a majority of the snaps this week. It's time to start Gronk!

1/2/2013 5:41:00 PM
Description: Despite missing five games with a broken forearm, New England tight end Rob Gronkowski still finished fourth in the NFL with 11 receiving touchdowns.
Insight: Gronkowski had seven touchdowns in the four games prior to his injury and returned to catch another one in Week 17 to give him 11 on the year. He'll likely be one of the top two tight ends drafted again in 2013 but may see his ADP drop as fantasy owners react to the events of this season.

12/30/2012 10:04:00 AM
Description: New England tight end Rob Gronkowski will be active for Sunday's game against Miami according to Albert Breer of the NFL Network.
Insight: Gronkowski is expected to be on a pitch count but all he needs is that one touchdown catch to reward fantasy owners. Even in a championship week, Gronk's touchdown potential makes him worth the risk.

12/29/2012 1:22:00 PM
Description: According to Tom Curran of CSN New England, a league source said Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski (forearm) is expected to play Sunday on a limited basis.
Insight: Gronkowski has been practicing but recent reports suggested that he was unlikely to play until the playoffs. We wouldn't trust Gronk in fantasy leagues in Week 17 but he could take targets away from Brandon Lloyd, who has stepped up as the third option in the offense behind Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker the last three games.

12/27/2012 11:27:00 AM
Description: ESPN Boston reports Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski still hasn't been cleared to play despite practicing with the team the past two weeks. Gronkowski has been sidelined since mid-November with a broken forearm.
Insight: The Patriots haven't locked up a first round bye yet so there's a good chance they'll be playing next week. We assumed Gronk was close to a return because he's been practicing but now we're not so sure. New England's offense has plenty of weapons outside of Gronkowski and their coach is a genius so it might not be the end of the world if he misses the start of the postseason.

12/21/2012 4:20:00 PM
Description: As expected, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is inactive for Sunday's game against Jacksonville. Gronkowski has been out the last four weeks with a broken arm.
Insight: Sorry fantasy owners, Gronkowski won't be ready in time for the Week 16 fantasy finals. His goal is to be ready for the NFL playoffs which don't start until Jan 5.
