Description: It looks as though running back James Starks could be on his way out of Green Bay. SOURCE: Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Insight: The Packers loaded up on halfbacks in the draft (Eddy Lacy and Johnathan Franklin), so Starks won't be needed next season. The 27-year-old was a non-factor during the 2012 campaign (255 rushing yards in six games).

Description: Green Bay halfback James Starks is questionable for Saturday's game in San Francisco. Starks has missed the Packers' last five games with a knee bruise.
Insight: DuJuan Harris has been getting most of the reps at halfback in Starks' absence. We don't think either player will be a factor Saturday against the 49ers' fourth-ranked run defense.

Description: Packers running back James Starks (knee) will miss Week 17 versus Minnesota.
Insight: Starks injured his knee against Minnesota the last time they played and hasn't been back on the field. The Packers re-signed Ryan Grant a couple of games ago and he rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns in a blowout win over Tennessee and should be the feature back over Alex Green (concussion) in the Green Bay offense.

Description: Packers running back James Starks (knee) will miss "multiple weeks," according to coach Mike McCarthy. SOURCE: Tyler Dunne, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
Insight: Starks injured his knee Sunday versus the Vikings. The Packers re-signed Ryan Grant, but we suspect that move was made only because he's familiar with the system; Grant was released by Washington earlier this season and passed over by the Giants twice last week when they picked up both Ryan Torain and Kregg Lumpkin.

Description: Packers running back James Starks injured his knee in Sunday's victory over Minnesota and could be done for the season. SOURCE: ESPNMilwaukee.com
Insight: "It's not an ACL," an NFL source said. The injury isn't expected to require surgery, but the Packers are considering putting the running back on injured reserve anyway to open up a roster spot for a healthy player. The oft-injured Starks has rushed for 255 yards and a touchdown on 71 carries in six games this season.

Cold11/20/2012 3:54:00 PM
Description: James Starks' poor outing Sunday against Detroit has drawn the ire of Packers head coach Mike McCarthy according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
Insight: Starks got plenty of chances against the Lions (25 carries) but was only able to collect 74 rushing yards. McCarthy regretted not using Alex Green more during the win and hinted that next week's rushing workload could feature a 50/50 split between the two.

Description: Packers running back James Starks has surpassed Alex Green as the team's starter, running backs coach Alex Van Pelt said. SOURCE: Green Bay Press-Gazette
Insight: "I think (Starks) has earned it," Van Pelt said. "I think he was productive when he was in there the last couple of games with limited touches, and he has the most experience of the backs we have right now. I think he's earned the right to get in there and get some more touches." Starks could be a nice sleeper RB2 this week against the Lions.

Description: Packers running back James Starks could see an increased role when the team gets back from the bye. SOURCE: Tom Silverstein, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
Insight: Silverstein said Starks proved against the Cardinals in Week 9 that he's back to full strength after a two-month absence due to a toe injury. Alex Green was ineffective as the lead back and serves the team better as a change-of-pace player but he is much better than Starks as a receiver and Green Bay likes to run a lot of no-huddle. We'd take a wait-and-see approach with this backfield but fantasy owners should add Starks if he's still available.

11/6/2012 4:40:00 PM
Description: The Packers had one of their best rushing games as a team since 2009 Sunday with James Starks and Alex Green splitting carries. Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy wouldn't commit to a similar role for each running back against the Lions following the team's bye week, but we'd be surprised if the Packers make much of a change.
Insight: Starks was used on normal down and distance and Green was used in no-huddle and third down situations Sunday. Green averaged just 2.4 ypc in three weeks as the lead back and Starks isn't a great receiver so we expect the timeshare to continue.

9/29/2012 8:35:00 PM
Description: ESPN reports Green Bay running back James Starks will be a healthy scratch for Sunday's matchup against the Saints.
Insight: This news is a little surprising as Starks was listed as probable earlier in the week. Starks has been out with turf toe all year. It looks like newcomer Cedric Benson will continue to be the team's featured back.

9/12/2012 5:53:00 PM
Description: Green Bay running back James Starks (turf toe) could return in Week 3, according to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Starks "could be a part of the plan."
Insight: If Cedric Benson has another poor performance it could open the door for Starks to re-acquire a significant role on the team, but he's better left on the free agent wire right now.

9/11/2012 9:58:00 PM
Description: Green Bay running back James Starks missed practice on Tuesday and is doubtful for Thursday night's game against Chicago. Starks missed the season opener Sunday versus the 49ers because of turf toe.
Insight: Even when Starks does return, his fantasy appeal will be pretty limited unless starter Cedric Benson gets injured or plays poorly.

8/28/2012 2:44:00 PM
Description: Packers running back James Starks (turf toe) is still struggling with the injury and progress is slow, according to Tyler Dunne, Packers beat writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Insight: We have seen time and again how turf toe injuries kill running backs fantasy production. With the addition of Cedric Green to the mix with Starks and Alex Green, Starks' value has sunk to late-round flier levels.

8/23/2012 10:20:00 AM
Description: According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Packers running back James Starks (turf toe) may be on the roster bubble during the cutdown from 90 to 75 Monday.
Insight: The Journal-Sentinel predicted what the team's final roster would look like, and Starks wasn't on it. The publication said Starks' injury history (going back to his time at Buffalo in college, Starks has missed time in five straight seasons) may finally catch up to him. It's looking more and more like Cedric Benson will be the team's lead back with Alex Green handling backup duties.

8/19/2012 3:19:00 PM
Description: Green Bay halfback James Starks (turf toe) is questionable for the start of the season.
Insight: According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Starks is still a couple of weeks away from returning to the team, and Week 1 is three weeks away.

8/13/2012 8:33:00 PM
Description: Green Bay halfback James Starks is suffering from turf toe and his status is considered "week-to-week."
Insight: Second-stringer Brandon Saine is out with a hamstring injury and Alex Green has been dealing with knee issues, so right now the Packers are looking pretty banged up at running back. All of that is good news for Cedric Benson, who signed with the Packers on Sunday and as far as we know, doesn't appear to have any injury restrictions at the moment.

8/10/2012 11:18:00 AM
Description: Packers running back James Starks was unimpressive in Green Bay's exhibtion opener, rushing five times for 16 yards, but dropping a pass and mishandling a handoff.
Insight: Starks has a great opportunity to take over the Packers running game, but his early training camp performance might end up bringing Alex Green (returning from ACL surgery) into the mix.

8/3/2012 1:05:00 PM
Description: According to Bob McGinn of the Journal Sentinel, "the Packers were looking for big things from James Starks in his third season. So far, they haven't seen it."
Insight: Starks has a great opportunity to take over the Packers running game, but his early training camp performance might bring Alex Green into the picture. With the quality of the Green Bay offense, there is a chance to be a solid RB2 if one of the backs takes control of the situation. It remains to be seen which back, if any, will step up.

6/12/2012 8:13:00 PM
Description: Running back James Starks figures to be the lead back in Green Bay with Ryan Grant out of the picture. According to Kevin Seifert of ESPN.com, Starks has been taking first-team repetitions recently.
Insight: Grant is a free agent, leaving Starks to receive the bulk of the carries for the Packers. Starks and Grant split the carries down the middle last season, with Starks receiving 133 and Grant getting 134. Together, the two combined for 1,137 yards on 267 carries with three rushing touchdowns and 484 yards on 48 catches. Starks has the potential to do that by himself if he can stay healthy, especially given the prolific offense he plays in.

Description: James Starks (knee, ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday against the Lions, and will be a game-time decision. Source: Tyler Dunne via Twitter
Insight: Ryan Grant is in line to receive a large workload this week and with this being the first game of the week, we don't think you can count on Starks.
