NOTES:The PGA Tour travels to Malaysia this week for the CIMB Classic at
Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club. Four of the top 25 players in the world are competing this week -- Phil Mickelson (3), Keegan Bradley (15), Sergio Garcia (19) and Ernie Els (24). Mickelson and Bradley are playing for the first time since helping the United States win the Presidents Cup three weeks ago. This will be the first year that the tournament is an official PGA Tour event.

The 2010 tournament was the first PGA Tour-sanctioned event to be held in Southeast Asia. There are only 78 players in the field with no cut. They are competing for a $7 million prize purse, with the winner receiving $1,260,000. The purse increased $900,000 from last year.

The tournament is being played at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club, which was designed by Neil Haworth and opened in 1991. It was redesigned by Parslow & Parslow in 2008. The course hosted the Maybank Malaysian Open on the European Tour in March. Kiradech Aphibarnrat captured that title, and is also in the field this week.

Last year, Nick Watney fired a course-record, 10-under 61 in the final round to rally and win. Watney finished at 22-under-par 262. The victory was unofficial, but was his sixth on the PGA Tour.

In 2011, Bo Van Pelt closed with an impressive 7-under 64 and cruised to a 6- stroke victory over Jeff Overton. It was Van Pelt's second career victory and first since the 2009 U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee, and he did it by going bogey-free over the tournament's last 34 holes to finish at a tournament-record 23-under 261.

Ben Crane birdied the final hole to win by one stroke over Brian Davis in 2010. Crane finished at 18-under-par 266, as he fired four rounds in the 60s and held at least a share of the lead after 36, 54, and 72 holes.

Next week, the top players in the world head to China for the WGC-HSBC Champions, where Ian Poulter will defend his title.
