Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Tanner Price threw for a season-high 320
yards and three touchdowns as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons topped the Maryland
Terrapins 31-10 in Atlantic Coast Conference action at BB&T Stadium.
Price finished just six yards shy of his career high in yardage. Chris Givens
caught eight passes for a career-high 191 yards and a score for Wake Forest
(6-5, 5-2 ACC) which kept its bowl hopes alive with the win. Brandon
Pendergrass ran for 125 yards and scored a touchdown.
C.J. Brown had a big day for Maryland (2-9, 1-6), running for 110 yards and
going 20-of-42 through the air for 186 yards and a touchdown. Brown took over
at quarterback for Danny O'Brien, who broke his arm last week against Notre
Dame. Kevin Dorsey caught eight balls for 77 yards but the Terps still lost
their sixth straight.
Wake Forest opened the scoring when Price hit Cameron Ford on a two-yard
touchdown pass with just over five minutes left in the opening period.
Maryland tied the game when Brown hit Justus Pickett on a 31-yard strike in the
final seconds of the first half.
The Demon Deacons regained the lead on Jimmy Newman's 25-yard field goal four-
and-a-half minutes into the third quarter.
Pendergrass extended the Wake Forest lead to 17-7 with a two-yard burst with
just under five minutes left in the period.
Nick Ferrara added a 42-yard field goal for the Terrapins with just under two
minutes remaining in the period.
Price found Terence Davis on a 10-yard pattern to give Wake Forest a 24-10 lead
a minute into the fourth quarter. He connected with Givens on a 35-yard
touchdown pass midway through the period to complete the scoring.
Wake Forest piled up 514 yards of total offense and had a huge edge in time of
possession, 36:45 to 23:15. Maryland was just 4-of-16 on third-down
