Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Tanner Price completed 19-of-29 passes
for 252 yards and a touchdown to lead the Wake Forest Demon Deacons to a 27-19
victory over the Boston College Eagles in an ACC battle at Alumni Stadium.
Chris Givens caught seven passes for 132 yards and a touchdown in the win for
Wake Forest (3-1, 2-0 ACC), while Josh Harris added 60 yards and a score on
the ground for the Demon Deacons.
Chase Rettig threw for 188 yards with a touchdown and an interception in the
loss for Boston College (1-4, 0-2). Montel Harris led the Eagles ground attack
with 108 yards on 21 carries, setting the school's all-time rushing record
with a 26-yard carry early in the final quarter. He currently has 3,735 yards,
breaking the mark held by Derrick Knight (2003) who had 3,725 career yards.
A 10-play, 74-yard opening drive culminated with a two-yard scoring run from
Harris to give the Demon Deacons a 7-0 lead.
The Eagles got on the board late in the frame with a 36-yard Nate Freese field
goal.
Early in the second frame, Jimmy Newman connected on a 22-yard field goal to
give the Demon Deacons a 10-3 advantage, but the Eagles responded just minutes
later with a 45-yard Freese conversion.
A one-yard Brandon Pendergrass scoring run pushed Wake Forest ahead, 17-6,
late in the stanza, but the Eagles pulled to within 17-9 as time winded down
in the half with a 52-yard Freese field goal.
Early in the third quarter Price found Givens with a 47-yard toss to give
Wake Forest a 24-9 lead.
The Eagles pulled to within 24-19 following a two-yard toss from Rettig to
Alex Amidon and a 32-yard Freese kick,
A 22-yard Newman field goal late in the frame extended the Demon Deacons
advantage to 27-19, and accounted for the final score of the meeting.
