NCAA Game Summary - Vanderbilt at Wake Forest
(Saturday, November 26th)
Final Score: Vanderbilt 41, Wake Forest 7
Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - Zac Stacy ran for 184 yards and three
touchdowns, as the Vanderbilt Commodores became bowl eligible for just the
fifth time in school history with a 41-7 road win over Wake Forest.
Jordan Rodgers threw for 139 yards and a touchdown and ran for another 90 to
help the Commodores (6-6) notch their first road win of the year.
Tanner Price threw for 157 yards and a touchdown for the Demon Deacons (6-6),
who looked sluggish after earning their bowl eligibility with a win over
Maryland last weekend.
Vanderbilt grabbed a 6-0 lead after one quarter of play thanks to field goals
of 33 and 30 yards by Ryan Fowler in the opening frame.
Wake Forest took its first and only lead of the game at the 12:44 mark of the
second quarter, as Price found Terence Davis for a 10-yard touchdown pass.
However, the Commodores answered with three straight touchdowns to take a 27-7
lead into the half.
The first of those scores came on a one-yard run by Stacy, capping a 14-play,
76-yard drive. On the first play of the Commodores' next possession, Rodgers
hooked up with Brandon Barden for a 73-yard scoring strike. Stacy's second
touchdown of the day came on a 20-yard scamper in the final minute of the
half.
It was more Vanderbilt after halftime. Backup quarterback Larry Smith tossed a
45-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Matthews at the 4:17 mark of the third
quarter, and Stacy scored again on a 40-yard run in the fourth to polish off
the rout.
Vanderbilt scored on each of its first five possessions to erase any doubt in
this one. The Commodores finished with 481 yards of total offense to the Demon
Deacons' 329.
