College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Danny O'Brien threw for 168 yards and four
touchdowns on 13-of-20 passing as the Maryland Terrapins routed the Wake
Forest Demon Deacons 62-14 in an ACC battle at Byrd Stadium.
Davin Meggett ran for 94 yards on 16 carries for one touchdown for Maryland
(6-2, 3-1 ACC), while D.J. Adams had 16 carries for 84 yards and a score in
Wake Forest (2-6, 1-4) was led by quarterback Tanner Price who completed 16 of
his 31 passes for 156 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the loss.
The Terrapins opened the scoring with a 22-yard field goal from kicker Travis
Baltz, giving Maryland the early 3-0 lead. Later in the first quarter, O'Brien
connected on a 17-yard touchdown pass to Torrey Smith as the Terrapins now
Wake Forest made it a 10-7 game after Josh Harris scampered for a six-yard
touchdown run at the tail end of the opening quarter.
Maryland answered back as O'Brien found Quintin McCree for a 28-yard score and
a 17-7 lead. O'Brien threw his third touchdown shortly after, this time to
Haroon Brown from three yards out as the Terrapins now led 24-7. Baltz kicked
a 32-yard field goal with 1:14 remaining in the opening half as Maryland took
a 27-7 advantage into the intermission.
After the break, Maryland continued to dominate. Kenny Tate intercepted Price
and took the ball to paydirt from eight yards out as the Terrapins held a 34-7
lead. O'Brien then connected on his fourth score to his fourth different
receiver, finding LaQuan Williams for a 24-yard touchdown pass and a 41-7
advantage. Ryan Donahue intercepted another pass for a score, this time
picking off Demon Deacons' quarterback Skylar Jones and taking it 25 yards for
the touchdown. The Terrapins ended the third quarter with a 55-7 lead after
Meggett rushed for a 14-yard score.
Wake Forest finally returned to the score sheet after an eight-yard touchdown
strike from Price to Terence Davis, but the Demon Deacons still trailed 55-14.
Maryland's Adams topped off the day with a one-yard rush for the score and a
