Tallahassee, FL (Sports Network) - Christian Ponder threw for 243 yards and
two touchdowns to lead the Florida State Seminoles to a 31-0 victory over the
Wake Forest Demon Deacons in an ACC contest at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Willie Haulstead hauled in both of Ponder's touchdown passes, while Taiwan
Easterling led Florida State (3-1, 1-0 ACC) with 112 yards on six receptions.
Ted Stachitas and Tanner Price both saw time under center for Wake Forest
(2-2, 1-1), but neither performed at a high level. Stachitas completed all
five of his passes, but for only 47 yards, while Price finished with just 35
yards and one interception.
After a scoreless first quarter, the Seminoles were able to take a 7-0 edge
early in the second stanza when Ponder hit Willie Haulstead with a 10-yard
Florida State capped off an 12-play, 63-yard drive with a 34-yard field goal
by Dustin Hopkins late in the second quarter.
Midway through the third quarter Ponder scored on a six-yard run, pushing the
Seminoles lead to 17-0.
Ponder and Haulstead hooked up once again, this time the pass and catch went
for four yards and it came midway through the final frame, extending FSU's
advantage to 24-0.
Adding to their lead late in the contest, E.J. Manuel hooked with Kenny Shaw
for a 23-yard touchdown pass.
