Clemson, SC (Sports Network) - C.J. Spiller carried the ball nine times for
106 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Clemson Tigers in a 38-3 romp of the
Wake Forest Demon Deacons in an ACC clash at Memorial Stadium.
Kyle Parker directed the Tiger (3-3, 2-2 ACC) offense, completing 10-of-17
pass attempts for 132 yards and a touchdown, while rushing seven times for 31
yards and a touchdown.
Wake Forest (4-3, 2-2) quarterback Riley Skinner struggled on offense,
converting just 11-of-24 pass attempts for 82 yards and two interceptions.
Clemson took an early first-quarter lead when Parker found Michael Palmer from
one yard out to give the Tigers a 7-0 advantage just minutes into the game.
The Tigers extended their lead to 10-0 late in the first quarter, with a 22-
yard field goal by Richard Jackson.
Clemson kept the pressure on in the second quarter, taking a 17-0 lead with a
three-yard run from Parker.
Wake Forest put its only points of the game on the board late in the second
quarter, when Jimmy Newman drilled a 28-yard field goal.
The Tigers responded just seconds later, as Spiller ripped off a 66-yard
touchdown scamper to give his team a 24-3 lead.
Clemson added another score late in the first half, when Jamie Harper
barreled his way into the endzone from three yards out to give his team a 31-3
lead at the break.
The Tigers scored the final points of the game midway through the third
quarter, with a 14-yard touchdown run by Spiller to seal the 38-3 victory.
The Clemson defense were stout in the contest, holding the Demon Deacons to
just 178 total yards, including an only 81 yards on the ground.
