GAME NOTES: The Buffalo Bulls will try and lengthen a two-game winning streak as they hit the road to face the Bowling Green Falcons in Mid-American Conference action at the Stroh Center.
Buffalo has won two in a row and five of its last seven games - all in conference play. The Bulls are coming off an 84-63 thumping of Western Michigan Wednesday.
Bowling Green is experiencing the opposite in terms of recent success, having lost its last two games including a 69-57 defeat at the hands of Eastern Michigan in the team's last outing. The Falcons have lost six of their last nine games played.
Bowling Green holds a 17-10 all-time series lead over Buffalo. The two programs have split the last 10 meetings, while Bowling Green owns an 11-3 record on its home court.
Both Buffalo and Western Michigan started slowly on offense in the team's last contest, but after a few minutes the Bulls found their rhythm, running up a 29-9 run in the first half that gave them the lead for good. Javon McCrea led five Bulls players in double-digits with 20 points on the night. Shannon Evans chipped in 17 points, while both Joshua Freelove and Justin Moss contributed 14 points. Will Regan rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points in the dominating win.
McCrea continues to improve his credentials this season as one of the MAC's top players. He leads Buffalo in scoring with a 17.7 ppg average and tops the team in rebounding at 9.3 rpg. His 44 blocked shots and 27 steals are also team highs. Freelove (12.6 ppg) and Regan (10.5 ppg) are the other two players netting double-digit point totals for the Bulls on the year. Jarod Oldham leads the team with 93 assists.
Eastern Michigan was able to grab 18 offensive rebounds against Bowling Green in the Falcons' last time out, which led to 25 second chance points for the Eagles. Bowling Green couldn't do much in the way of slowing Eastern Michigan's offensive attack. Richaun Holmes led the Falcons in the game with 20 points and nine rebounds, while Anthony Henderson chipped in 12 points and Spencer Parker added 10. Cameron Black notched a team-high 10 rebounds in the loss.
Holmes leads the team in scoring this season with 14.2 ppg on 54.1 percent shooting from the floor. His 7.3 rpg total is second only to Black's 7.4 rpg. Parker (12.3 ppg), Jehvon Clarke (12.1 ppg) and Henderson (11.2 ppg) round out the double0digit scorers for the Falcons. Clarke leads the team with a 4.7 apg average on the year. Bowling Green is a defensive-minded team, allowing just 63 ppg to its opponents. But the Falcons are only averaging the same total, 63 ppg, offensively.
Buffalo hasn't been an incredible road team this season, but the Bulls can really show their true power, especially underneath the basket, in this game.
