(Friday, November 8)
Final Score: Texas A&M 82, Buffalo 58
College Station, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Kourtney Roberson registered a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds as the Texas A&M Aggies dismissed the Buffalo Bulls, 82-58, in non-conference action at Reed Arena.
Also scoring 15 points for the Aggies (1-0) was Jordan Green who knocked down all but one of his seven field goal attempts. Shawn Smith delivered 13 points, followed by Antwan Space and Alex Caruso with 11 apiece. Space added eight rebounds and three assists, Caruso filled his stat line with eight assists, six boards and four steals.
The Bulls (0-1) were paced by Javon McCrea who delivered 14 points, followed by Joshua Freelove with 11 in the setback. The contest marked the head coaching debut for Bobby Hurley, who was hired by Buffalo after spending the last few seasons as an assistant at both Wagner and Rhode Island.
Both teams had their issues from behind the 3-point line in the first half, but even with just 3-of-10 shooting on the perimeter, A&M still put up a 39-31 advantage at the break.
In the second half Buffalo fell apart, converting a mere 8-of-33 (.242) from the floor overall, en route to the 24-point loss.
The Aggies may have had their troubles at the free-throw line (10-of-19) in the matchup, but that wasn't nearly as problematic as Buffalo's 31.3 percent accuracy from the field.
