Oxford, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Will Felder tallied 26 points and seven rebounds as the Miami-Ohio RedHawks used a late surge to down the IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons, 94-87, in non-conference action at Millet Hall.
Felder shot 10-of-16 from the field for Miami-Ohio (1-4), while Will Sullivan put up 23 points off the bench on 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Geovonie McKnight and Quinten Rollins poured in 13 and 11 points, respectively.
For IPFW (6-4), Michael Kibiloski shot 5-of-11 from 3-point range en route to 17 points. Mo Evans had 16 points in a reserve role, Steve Forbes netted 14 points, Joe Edwards added 10 points and seven assists, and Joe Reed also registered 10 points.
IPFW was in complete control of the first half, outshooting Miami-Ohio from the field, 58.1 percent to 43.8 percent, en route to a 52-36 advantage at the break.
The Mastodons led by 10 with under nine minutes to go before the RedHawks strung together a 12-2 run to tie the game at 71 at the 6:15 mark. IPFW would regain the advantage with 1:21 left, 87-85, but from there Miami-Ohio would end the game with nine unanswered points. A 3-pointer by McKnight with 1:01 remaining proved to be the game-winner.
IPFW lost despite shooting a blistering 53.6 percent from 3-point range (15- of-28). Miami-Ohio outscored the Mastodons in the paint, 48-26.
