Vinci reaches third straight Barcelona final

Barcelona, Spain (Sports Network) - Italian Roberta Vinci will appear in her third straight Barcelona Open final.

A sixth-seeded Vinci outlasted Spanish crowd favorite Laura Pous-Tio 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in Friday's second semifinal at this clay-court event.

The 2004 Barcelona champion Pous-Tio saw double duty on Day 5 as she had to complete her suspended quarterfinal match, which she did with a 6-7 (7-9), 6-1, 7-5 victory over Slovenian Polona Hercog, who was leading 6-5 when play was called because of rain here on Thursday.

Vinci lost to French Open champion Francesca Schiavone in last year's all- Italian Barcelona finale and was the titlist here in 2009.

The 28-year-old Vinci will appear in her fifth career final, seeking a fourth title.

Vinci's opponent in the 2011 final will be Czech Lucie Hradecka, who knocked out fifth-seeded Italian Sara Errani 6-1, 7-5.

The 25-year-old Prague native Hradecka is 0-3 in her previous career WTA finals.

Vinci beat Hradecka in their lone WTA clash, in Toronto, two years ago.

The winner of this $220,000 tournament will collect $37,000.
