Final Score: Los Angeles 3, San Jose 0
Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Robbie Keane scored on either side of the interval on Saturday as the Los Angeles Galaxy rolled to a 3-0 drubbing of the San Jose Earthquakes at StubHub Center in the latest edition of the California Classico.
Just three days after signing a lucrative multi-year contract extension with the Galaxy, Landon Donovan put the home side a goal to the good in the 26th minute when he ran onto a nice over-the-top ball from Keane, rounded San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch and slotted it home.
The hosts made it 2-0 two minutes before the break when Gyasi Zardes was dragged down from behind by Earthquakes defender Steven Beitashour, resulting in a penalty kick.
Keane stepped up and calmly fired it past Busch to put the defending champions up by two heading into the second half.
After the break, the Galaxy kept coming in waves and finally put the result to bed in the 67th minute when Keane bagged his second of the match to secure three points.
The result lifts the Galaxy to 43 points on the season, five behind Real Salt Lake for the highest total in the league, while San Jose remains on 34 points.
