Forrest nets late winner as Celtic downs Karagandy

Glasgow, Scotland (Sports Network) - Celtic completed a dramatic comeback against Shakhter Karagandy on Wednesday as James Forrest's stoppage-time goal allowed the Hoops to claim a 3-2 aggregate victory and advance to the Champions League group stage.

Celtic entered Wednesday's match trailing 2-0 after the first leg in Kazakhstan, but Kris Commons turned things around for the hosts at Parkhead with a stunning long-range strike to cut the aggregate deficit to 2-1 in first-half stoppage time.

Georgios Samaras tallied the equalizer shortly after the break to put Celtic ahead 2-0 on the night, and with the contest seemingly headed for stoppage time, Forrest came to the rescue.

Anthony Stokes weaved his way into the penalty area and laid the ball off to Forrest, who provided the final touch by smashing the ball into the net from eight yards to send the home supporters into a state of delirium.

AC Milan also secured its place in the group stage with a 3-0 win over PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday for a 4-1 aggregate triumph.

Kevin-Prince Boateng tallied two goals for Rossoneri, while Mario Balotelli also found the net to eliminate the Dutch side.

Danny's brace helped Zenit St Petersburg roll to a 4-2 win over Pacos Ferreira, which exits the competition with an 8-3 aggregate loss, Carlos Vela tallied two goals as Real Sociedad beat Lyon, 2-0, to knock out the French outfit 4-0 on aggregate, while Plzen completed a 4-1 aggregate win over Maribor with 1-0 second-leg victory courtesy of a third-minute goal from Stanislav Tecl.
