Atletico Mineiro extends unbeaten run to 12 games
Sao Paulo, Brazil (Sports Network) - Neto Berola scored in the 88th minute to spoil a brace from Andrezinho, and Atletico Mineiro extended its unbeaten run to 12 matches with a 3-2 win over Botafogo on Sunday in the Brasileiro.
Damian Escudero scored before halftime for Atletico, and Jo added his sixth of the season early in the second half for the Brasileiro leaders.
Mineiro has won for the 10th time during its undefeated streak, and sits three points clear of second-place Fluminense in the standings.
Also Sunday, Lucas and Ayrton scored in the first half as Coritiba snapped its four-game winless skid with a 4-0 win over Cruzeiro, Leandro scored a brace as Gremio beat Figueirense, 4-0, and Andre Felipe scored twice as Santos extended its unbeaten run to four with a 3-2 win over Corinthians.
Raylan scored the match-winner in the 81st as Goianiense edged Palmeiras, 2-1, to end a five-game winless run, Vagner Love scored as Flamengo edged Vasco da Gama, 1-0, and Portuguesa ran its undefeated streak to eight with a 1-1 draw against Internacional in Sunday's other matches.
On Saturday, Samuel scored in the 85th minute as Fluminense beat Sport Recife, 1-0, to extend its unbeaten streak to six matches, Martinez scored as Nautico edged Bahia, 1-0, and Sao Paulo ended a three-game losing skid with a 3-0 win over Ponte Preta.
