Teixeira steps down from Brazil post

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Sports Network) - Ricardo Teixeira stepped down as president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) on Monday.

Teixeira has held his position as president for the past 23 years, but took a leave of absence last week, and has now confirmed his permanent departure.

"I am definitively leaving the presidency of the CBF, with the feeling that I have reached the end of my time," read a statement from Teixeira.

"It is not easy to oversee a passion. Football in our country is known for two things: talent and disorganization. When we win, the talent is exalted. When we lose, (it is) our disorganization."

Teixeira has also stepped down as head of the 2014 World Cup organizing committee amid allegations of corruption.
