Park, Chen share medalist honors at WAPL

Norman, OK (Sports Network) - Annie Park and Doris Chen posted matching 4- under 68s for the second straight day on Tuesday as they shared medalist honors at the U.S. Women's Public Links Championship.

Park and Chen are teammates at the University of California and they helped the Trojans win the NCAA Championship last month.

The duo finished 36 holes of stroke play at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club at 8- under-par 136.

Casey Danielson (72) took third place at 3-under, while Mariel Galdiano (73), Julie Yang (72) and Kyung Kim (70) are tied for fourth at minus-2.

Park, the PAC-12 and NCAA Individual champion, started on the back nine and made the turn at 4-under for the day with birdies at the 10th, 13th, 16th and 18th.

After opening her inward nine with another birdie at the first, she tripped to her lone bogey of the day at the third and closed with six straight pars to grab the clubhouse lead at 8-under.

Chen, who is the 2010 U.S. Girls' Junior champion, also opened on the back nine and struggled out the gate with back-to-back bogeys at the 10th and 11th, but came right back with three straight birdies from the 14th to get into red numbers for the day.

A double bogey at the 17th halted her momentum before she got those two strokes right back with gains at the 18th and first. She then ended her round with three birdies over her final four holes to grab a share of the lead.
