(Saturday, January 26) Final Score: Elon 70, The Citadel 66 Charleston, SC (Sports Network) - Jack Isenbarger scored 22 points and dealt out eight assists to help the Elon Phoenix fend off The Citadel Bulldogs for a 70-66 victory in Southern Conference action at McAlister Field House. Tanner Samson added 15 points and four steals as Elon (13-7, 6-2 SoCon) notched its fifth consecutive win. Lucas Troutman scored 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, while Sebastian Koch and Ryley Beaumont grabbed six boards apiece. Mike Groselle and Matt Van Scyoc scored 20 points each to pace The Citadel (4-15, 1-8) in its second straight setback. Groselle and P.J. Horgan registered nine rebounds each and Marshall Harris III dealt out seven assists. The Phoenix held an 18-13 rebounding advantage and hit seven of their 18 attempts from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes to take a 38-33 lead into the halftime. The Citadel stayed within striking distance by going 12- of-24 from the floor in the first half. The Bulldogs committed eight turnovers after the break, which prevented them from climbing back on top. Elon held the hosts to 2-of-9 shooting from 3-point range in the final 20 minutes to hang on for the triumph.
