(Saturday, November 10) Final Score: Youngstown State 80, George Washington 73 Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - Bobby Hain came off the bench to record a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Youngstown State Penguins held on to defeat the George Washington Colonials, 80-73, in the season opener for both teams at Charles E. Smith Center. Blake Allen also tallied 19 points for Youngstown State (1-0) while grabbing seven rebounds. D.J. Cole (12 points) and Damian Eargle (11 points) added to a great bench effort for the Penguins. Shawn Amiker rounded out the double digits scorers with 10 points For George Washington (0-1), Isaiah Armwood led the way with 18 points on 5- of-8 from the field and 8-of-12 from the foul line. Patricio Garino added 13 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Youngstown State took a 43-32 lead into halftime. It shot a modest 42.4 percent from the field (14-of-33) in the opening 20 minutes, but the difference was made at the foul line where it went 12-of-17. George Washington did not help matters by committing eight first half turnovers. George Washington climbed back in the game in the second half, and it even tied the contest, 71-71, with under a minute to play on an Armwood bucket, but the Penguins finished on a 9-2 run to close out the game.
