Description: Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana got the best of Seattle ace Felix Hernandez, going 7 2/3 IP yielding four hits and a walk without a run.
Insight: Quintana bullpen let him and the White Sox down as they gave up two ninth inning runs to tie the game and the game-winning run in the 14th inning.
Hot7/5/2014 11:31:00 AM
Description: Chicago left-hander Jose Quintana is nearly as hot as Seattle ace Felix Hernandez entering their Saturday afternoon showdown at U.S. Cellular Field.
Insight: Quintana and King Felix both enter with ERAs below 1.30 in their last three starts. Quintana has thrown seven innings in each of his previous three outings, recording 21 strikeouts along the way. Current M's haven't had much success against the under-the-radar starter, either, so he's definitely a smart play.

Description: The White Sox have signed left-hander Jose Quintana to a five-year extension. SOURCE: Scott Merkin,
Insight: The deal could be worth up to $26 million if Quintana gains Super 2 status. He's had a shaky spring so far (0-2, 16.36 ERA in five appearances) but we're confident Quintana will get it together by the time the regular season starts.

Description: White Sox pitcher Josh Quintana gave up nine earned runs without getting an out during Tuesday's Cactus League start against the Athletics and has a 30.00 ERA, but the team isn't panicked about his struggles this spring. SOURCE: Dan Hayes,
Insight: "It just looks a little flat," manager Robin Ventura said. "But velocity is there. Really in the middle of the plate is where he was today. His cutter wasn't as sharp as it was in the past. That could be from getting on top of it and not having as much slide across the plate. He was in the middle today. ... You definitely think about it, but I wouldn't say it's a concern." A National League scout said he didn't detect any obvious arm issues but though the lefty had a poor delivery. Quintana went 9-7 with a 3.51 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and 164 strikeouts in 200 innings last season.

Description: White Sox pitcher Josh Quintana only threw one inning (20 pitches) Monday against the Yankees due to a lengthy rain delay.
Insight: Quintana has had a solid campaign, going 7-4 with a 3.69 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP and 139 strikeouts in 165 2/3 innings. Whether the White Sox choose to bring him back on three days rest or leave him on his regular routine, Quintana's next start will come at Baltimore.

Insight: Quintana hasn't won a game since May 21. He had his worst month of the season in June, posting a 4.33 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. The lefty is a low-end starter in fantasy leagues.

Description: White Sox starter Jose Quintana hasn't allowed a run over his last two starts.
Insight: He walked two, gave up five hits and fanned seven in 6 2/3 scoreless innings Wednesday versus Toronto after one-hitting the Indians over seven innings his last time out. His next turn will likely come Monday against those same Indians.

Description: White Sox rookie starter Jose Quintana shut out Boston over eight innings Thursday but walked away empty-handed as Addison Reed served up a three-run, walk-off homer to Cody Ross in the ninth inning.
Insight: In his last four starts, Quintana has alternated between poor outings and eight-inning gems. Though he had just two strikeouts Thursday, the rookie also didn't walk a batter while scattering five hits. With just 13 walks in 70 1/3 innings, you know the lefty isn't going to beat himself and he clearly has good enough stuff to shut down good offenses.

Description: White Sox rookie starter Jose Quintana should be added for his start Friday against the Kansas City Royals. The left-hander is owned in just 37 percent of Yahoo! leagues despite possessing a 2.04 ERA in 57 1/3 innings.
Insight: Quintana will face Kansas City on the road, where he is 2-0 with a 2.51 ERA. The Royals also have several key hitters who struggle against lefty pitchers, such as Alex Gordon (.216 vs. LHP), Eric Hosmer (.216), Mike Moustakas (.221) and Jeff Francoeur (.235).

Description: White Sox rookie starter Jose Quintana's rotation spot seems to be intact for at least another month after John Danks was diagnosed with a shoulder strain.
Insight: Quintana (2-1, 1.53) is coming off his best start of the season, an eight-inning shut out of the Dodgers. He should be added in most formats, as his 20/6 K/BB should keep his ERA and WHIP down.
6/17/2012 7:25:00 PM
Description: White Sox rookie starter Jose Quintana shut out the Dodgers on five hits over eight innings Sunday. Quintana walked none and struck out six in a no decision.
Insight: Quintana (2-1, 1.53) had a 2.77 ERA in nine starts for Double-A Birmingham this season, and so far that's translated into big league success in five starts. The lefty doesn't walk many batters, which limits the damage when he allows 10 hits like he did in his last start. John Danks (shoulder) doesn't seem that close to returning, so give Quintana a try if he's out there.

Insight: Quintana had a 2.77 ERA in nine starts for Double-A Birmingham this season. He carried a 2.9 K/BB ratio over 48 2/3 innings, so we'll see if that translates into big league success.
