Description: Orioles closer Jim Johnson is 12-for-12 in save chances and has allowed two earned runs in 17 innings this season.
Insight: Johnson broke out with a major-league leading 51 saves and a 2.49 ERA last year and there hasn't been any regression. He's one of the top closers you can own.

2/9/2013 11:00:00 AM
Description: American League saves leader Jim Johnson has agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million deal to remain with the Orioles.
Insight: The deal means that the two sides won't need to get an arbitrator involved. Fresh off a breakout 2012 campaign (2.49 ERA, major-league leading 51 saves in 54 chances), Johnson should be one of the top closers in fantasy this season.

Cold10/11/2012 10:15:00 AM
Description: Baltimore closer Jim Johnson coughed up the lead Wednesday night by allowing a pinch-hit homer to Yankees DH Raul Ibanez in the bottom of the ninth.
Insight: It was Johnson's second subpar outing of the postseason. The American League saves leader will try to redeem himself Thursday as the Orioles attempt to force a Game 5.

Hot10/4/2012 11:04:00 AM
Description: Baltimore closer Jim Johnson finished the 2012 season as the major league's saves leader, collecting 51 saves in 54 opportunities.
Insight: Johnson has been especially dominant as of late, holding opponents scoreless over his last 11 appearances. His 51 saves are the most by any pitcher in the major leagues since 2008 when Angels righthander Francisco Rodriguez (now on Milwaukee) finished the season with a league-best 62 saves in 69 chances.

6/5/2012 10:56:00 PM
Description: Orioles closer Jim Johnson blew his first save of the season in 18 chances Tuesday against Boston. Johnson allowed a game-tying two-run blast to Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the ninth.
Insight: The Orioles scored two in the top of the 10th and Johnson stayed in to close out Boston in the bottom of the frame to earn his first win of the season, so it wasn't a total loss for fantasy owners. The right-hander has excelled in his first season as closer, but he was due for a hiccup. Nobody's perfect.

4/24/2012 4:54:00 PM
Description: Jim Johnson was hospitalized last night with flu-like symptoms, Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com reports.
Insight: Johnson is likely unavailable tonight. There is something going around the Orioles clubhouse right now, as Mark Reynolds is out of the lineup on Tuesday with flu-like symptoms as well. While the Orioles don't possess many fantasy stars, Johnson has been one of them, going 7-for-7 in save opportunities in his first season as full-time closer.

4/14/2012 7:17:00 PM
Description: Jim Johnson is now 4-for-4 in save chances after converting against the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Insight: Johnson is taking to the closer role quite nicely. In addition to the four saves, he's yet to allow a run. The Orioles won't win a lot of ballgames, but most of their victories will likely provide save chances to Johnson.
