Description: Philadelphia lefthander John Lannan has been throwing bullpen sessions in Clearwater and should be ready to return to the big club some time in mid-June if all goes well.
Insight: Lannan struggled in two of his three starts this season, so fantasy owners were likely already jumping off the wagon. Wait until you see him perform well before getting excited about his return to the rotation.

4/18/2013 3:59:00 PM
Description: Philadelphia lefthander John Lannan has been placed on the DL.
Insight: Doctors have diagnosed him with a strained quad and it's unknown exactly how much time he will miss. He didn't pitch very well in his last start (1 2/3 IP, 8 H, 6 ER Wednesday against Cincinnati) so fantasy owners probably won't miss Lannan while he's gone.

4/17/2013 10:23:00 PM
Description: Phillies starter John Lannan (knee) will see a team doctor on Thursday morning, according to Ryan Lawrence of philly.com. He's dealing with knee discomfort.
Insight: Lannan allowed just eight hits, one walk and four earned runs in his first two starts but he was tagged for eight hits and six runs in 1 2/3 innings Wednesday against the Reds.

Description: The Phillies have agreed with starter John Lannan on a one-year, $2.5 million contract, pending a physical. SOURCE: CSNPhilly.com
Insight: Lannan will serve as Philadelphia's fifth starter. He posted a 42-52 record and 4.01 ERA in 134 starts with Washington the past six seasons but could struggle at Citizens Bank Park, where he owns a career ERA of 6.49 in eight starts.

9/12/2012 10:29:00 PM
Description: Nationals lefty John Lannan made his first start in place of Stephen Strasburg Wednesday against the Mets and he came away with a win.
Insight: Lannan shut out New York over 5 2/3 five-hit innings. The left-hander isn't anything special but he's now 3-0 with a 2.41 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP in three starts this season.

9/8/2012 11:37:00 AM
Description: John Lannan is expected to join Washington's rotation in place of Stephen Strasburg, who was officially shut down Saturday.
Insight: Not much of a consolation for Strasburg owners. Lannan has only made two big league appearances this season after starting 128 games for the Nationals in his career. While he's gone 2-0 with a 3.46 ERA in those two appearances (both starts), he isn't much of an option outside of NL-only leagues (though he has posted an ERA below 4.00 in the three seasons where he's made 30-plus starts).

8/3/2012 3:31:00 PM
Description: The Nationals recalled John Lannan from Triple-A Syracuse to start Game 1 of a day/night doubleheader with Miami.
Insight: Lannan (1-0, 2.57 ERA) will probably head back to Syracuse after Friday's start but he could be back for the stretch run as the Nationals have announced that they will indeed shut down Stephen Strasburg (11-5, 3.12) after he reaches 160 innings pitched.

4/5/2012 12:05:00 PM
Description: John Lannan has asked for a trade.
Insight: Clearly Lannan wasn't pleased about being demoted to Triple-A Syracuse. Lannan is 38-51 with a 4.00 ERA in 128 career starts for the Nationals including a 10-13, 3.70 season in 2011.

4/3/2012 7:20:00 PM
Description: John Lannan has been sent down to Triple-A Syracuse to start the season.
Insight: If you can remember, Lannan was actually the Nationals' Opening Day starter two years ago. Now he's on the fast track to the minors. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

3/26/2012 4:44:00 PM
Description: John Lannan will be the Nationals' fifth starter, manager Davey Johnson announced Monday.
Insight: Lannan was the subject of trade rumors throughout spring training, but with Chien-Ming Wang out for the first month of the season with a hamstring strain, the team is going with Lannan. Lannan allows too many baserunners (1.42 WHIP in his career) and doesn't strike people out, but he still managed to maintain an ERA under 4 in three out of his last four seasons, giving him some value in NL-only leagues.

3/13/2012 1:45:00 PM
Description: John Lannan is currently the subject of trade rumors. Both Boston and Detroit are thought to have inquired about his services.
Insight: Lannan appears to be the odd man out in Washington if Chien-Ming Wang is ready to return to the mound. Lannam's win total could be improved if he started for either of those two contenders.

9/28/2010 8:01:00 AM
Description: Lannan allowed four runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings on Monday against the Phillies. He walked one and struck out three.
Insight: Lannan took the loss as he fell to 8-8 with a 4.65 ERA on the year. (RapidDraft.com)

9/27/2010 8:21:00 PM
Description: John Lannan ended his season today by allowing four runs over 5 2/3 innings.
Insight: He pitched well enough in September to have a good chance at a roster spot for the start of 2011. He will only be worth drafting in NL-Only leagues.

9/27/2010 4:06:00 PM
Description: John Lannan's start tonight will be his last of the season. SOURCE: BILL LADSON ON TWITTER
Insight: One start against Roy Halladay makes him a weak option in weekly leagues.

9/16/2010 8:01:00 AM
Description: Lannan allowed two runs on eight hits over six innings on Wednesday against the Braves. He walked three and struck out six.
Insight: Lannan has four straight quality starts with three wins over that span. He is now 8-7 with a 4.61 ERA. (RapidDraft.com)

9/15/2010 7:43:00 PM
Description: John Lannan beat Atlanta today by allowing two runs over six innings.
Insight: He wasn't dominant (11 baserunners) but he was solid and has been that way in most of his starts in the past month. He is in option in deeper leagues for the rest of the season.

9/11/2010 9:05:00 AM
Description: Lannan allowed three runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings on Friday against the Marlins. He walked three and struck out six.
Insight: Despite his third straight quality start, Lannan took the loss as he fell to 7-7 with a 4.69 ERA on the year. (RapidDraft.com)

8/30/2010 8:01:00 AM
Description: Lannan allowed one run on eight hits over 7.2 innings on Sunday against the Cardinals. He walked none and struck out four.
Insight: Lannan won for the fourth time in his last five starts as he is now 6-6 with a 4.95 ERA. (SportsBuff.com)

8/29/2010 3:22:00 PM
Description: John Lannan evened his record at 6-6 by holding St. Louis to one run over seven innings today.
Insight: An impressive start against the Cards. Lannan has generally pitched well since coming back up so owners in deeper leagues can take a look at him against the Pirates next week.

8/25/2010 8:00:00 AM
Description: Lannan allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits over five innings on Tuesday against the Cubs. He walked none and struck out three.
Insight: Lannan lost for the first time since June 20th as he fell to 5-6 with a 5.23 ERA. (SportsBuff.com)
