Hamilton runs Reds to 1-0 win over Cards
Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The preternatural speed of Billy Hamilton helped the Cincinnati Reds inch closer to the St. Louis Cardinals in the hotly contested NL Central race.
Hamilton scored the only run in the Reds' 1-0 victory that featured quite the pitchers' duel between Cincinnati's Homer Bailey and St. Louis rookie Michael Wacha.
The Reds have taken the first two installments of this four-game set at Great American Ball Park to climb within 1 1/2 games of the Cardinals for the wild card lead. Cincinnati, which owns a healthy 7 1/2-game cushion for the final playoff spot, is currently three games back of Central-leading Pittsburgh.
