Big 12 announces deals with FOX, ESPN
Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Big 12 Conference has announced new media rights contracts with FOX Sports and ESPN.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the 13-year agreement with FOX that was revealed last spring was augmented and matches the length of the ESPN deal that was announced Friday. The new ESPN contract replaces the previous deal that was set to expire after the 2015-16 academic year.
"The stability of the Big 12 Conference is cemented," said Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby in a statement. "We are positioned with one of the best media rights arrangements in collegiate sports, providing the conference and its members unprecedented revenue growth, and sports programming over two networks."
Both networks will share in the conference's football rights, while ESPN will be the primary holder of Big 12 basketball, including the conference tournament.
