Named All-America honorable mention following his senior campaign as he finished second on North Carolina with 59 tackles, with 9.5 stops behind the line of scrimmage and three and a half sacks...Balmer, who was invited to the Senior and Hula Bowls, was also All-ACC Second-Team worthy...Suffered a high ankle sprain during the 2006 campaign which forced him to miss a pair of games and kept him from being 100 percent in other outings, yet that didn't stop him from blocking a pair of extra-point attempts in a narrow 45-44 win over Duke...Played both defensive end and defensive tackle during his first three years with the Tar Heels...Balmer has ideal size and speed to play at the pro level, but there are questions about his discipline as well as his durability, having had right knee surgery at the end of the 2005 campaign.
