Noah helps Bulls continue dominance of Pistons
Auburn Hills, MI (Sports Network) - Joakim Noah posted a game-high 30 points and 23 rebounds while adding six assists as the Chicago Bulls downed the Detroit Pistons, 108-104.
Carlos Boozer gave 24 points and six rebounds while Luol Deng and Marco Belinelli each added 16 points for the Bulls, who have won 16 straight games over the Pistons and haven't lost to the team in close to four years.
Rodney Stuckey had 24 points and seven assists, while Brandon Knight gave 21 points for the Pistons, who have lost four of their past five games.
Chicago held a 6-point lead early in the fourth quarter, but Detroit kept it close and tied the game when Stuckey's layup made it 82-82 with nine minutes to play.
The game stayed close for the next couple of minutes, but a Noah layup followed by a bucket from Boozer gave the Bulls a 96-90 lead with 4 1/2 minutes left.
After Tayshaun Prince hit a bucket to make it a 5-point game, Boozer missed a jump shot. Noah, though, grabbed the offensive board and dished a bounce pass to a charging Boozer, who slammed it home. A miss from Prince at the other end was followed by a 3-pointer from Deng for a 103-93 lead with 2:36 to play.
Detroit got the next four points, but Chicago followed with a pair of free throws on each of its next two possession to stem any comeback.
The Pistons held a 30-26 lead after one quarter and extended their margin in the second as the team took a 55-50 lead into the break.
Chicago had a strong third quarter and closed the frame with the final five points to help the team take a 78-74 lead into the final frame.
Detroit's last win over Chicago came on Dec. 23, 2008 in the Motor City ... Chicago, which has won four of its last five, hosts New York on Saturday ... Detroit plays in Cleveland on Saturday ... The Chicago bench scored just nine points, compared to 49 from Detroit ... Both teams shot well in the game as Chicago hit 52.4 percent of its shots, while Detroit made 51.4, but the Bulls dominated the glass, 41-28.
