Description: The Orioles have called up Kevin Gausman (3-2, 3.51 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) to start Saturday or Sunday against the Yankees.
Insight: The prospect has been Baltimore's No. 6 starter this season. He'll take Ubaldo Jimenez' spot in the rotation while Jimenez is on the DL with an ankle sprain.

Description: Orioles starter Kevin Gausman has pitched very well over his last three outings and should be a viable option again on Friday in the first game of Baltimore's doubleheader.
Insight: Gausman (3-1, 2.74 ERA) has won his last three starts, yielded a total of two runs over 19 innings with a WHIP of 1.000. He's probably a cheap price and should yield excellent results against a team he beat nine days ago.

Description: Despite being sent down to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, the Orioles expect Kevin Gausman to pitch in next week's double-header against the Rays. SOURCE: Brittany Ghiroli, MLB.com
Insight: That game will take place next Friday. Teams are allowed to carry an extra player on their roster during double-headers. Gausman (3-1, 2.74 ERA) has pitched well this season and could stay in the rotation if the injury Bud Norris suffered Saturday turns out to be serious.

Hot6/18/2014 6:23:00 PM
Description: Orioles starter Kevin Gausman had his third straight quality outing Wednesday at Tampa Bay.
Insight: Gausman allowed five hits and struck out five over six scoreless innings and has gone 3-0 with a 0.95 ERA and 14 Ks in his last three starts (19 IP). Miguel Gonzalez returned from the disabled list Tuesday and the O's have to decide if they're going to keep a six-man rotation or send Gausman, the fourth-overall pick in the 2012 draft, down.

6/7/2014 10:24:00 PM
Description: Orioles starter Kevin Gausman threw what was his longest and easily his best career start Saturday against the Athletics.
Insight: Gausman held the high-powered A's to one run on four hits in seven innings while striking out six and walking one. The 2012 fourth-overall pick had a 6.10 ERA in 51 2/3 MLB innings prior to Saturday. Miguel Gonzalez could come off the disabled list to make his next start, so Gausman may be headed back to the minors.

6/4/2014 9:00:00 PM
Description: Kevin Gausman will likely start for the Orioles Saturday against the Athletics. He was pulled from his start for Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday in the first inning, according to Roch Kubatko of masnsports.com.
Insight: Miguel Gonzalez was scratched from his start Thursday due to pain in his side and the O's moved Chris Tillman up to take his place, leaving a vacancy on Saturday. Gausman, the fourth-overall pick in 2012, has recorded a 2.40 ERA and 42 Ks in 41 1/3 innings for Norfolk this season, but he has a 6.10 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP over 51 2/3 innings in the majors the past two seasons. Avoid him if he starts Saturday.

5/15/2014 7:16:00 PM
Description: Baltimore right-hander Kevin Gausman was sent down to Triple-A Norfolk following a disappointing outing Wednesday against Detroit.
Insight: If Gausman (4 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K's) had pitched well, the Orioles probably would have considered moving him into the rotation full-time. Instead, Miguel Gonzalez (1-3, 4.76 ERA) will continue to pitch every fifth day. Gausman should get another chance at the big league level later this season.

5/14/2014 6:49:00 PM
Description: Orioles starter Kevin Gausman allowed five earned runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts in four innings Wednesday against the Tigers.
Insight: Gausman consistently throws 95-96 mph but his ERA is 6.10 in 51 2/3 career big league innings.

Insight: Gausman is 0-1 with a 2.08 ERA in six starts with Triple-A Norfolk this season. The 23-year-old was the fourth overall pick in the 2012 draft following a successful college career at LSU. He was only average in his first taste of the big leagues last season (3-5, 5.66 ERA in 20 appearances).

6/29/2013 6:42:00 PM
Description: Though the Orioles went with Rule 5 pick T.J. McFarland over 2012 No. 4 overall pick Kevin Gausman for Friday's start against the Yankees, Gausman still earned his first major league win.
Insight: Gausman (1-3, 6.52 ERA) showed exactly why he's considered one of the top prospects in Baltimore's system, as he entered in the third inning with the O's down 3-0 and went 4 1/3 innings and allowed three hits, no walks and no runs with four strikeouts. The righty possesses a 99-mph fastball and his off-speed stuff was working well Friday. He's someone to keep an eye on.

6/27/2013 4:48:00 PM
Description: Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman is expected to start Friday against the Yankees, according to Brittany Ghiroli of MLB.com.
Insight: Gausman, who is one of Baltimore's top prospects after being selected fourth overall in the 2012 draft, throws gas but has gone 0-3 with a 7.66 ERA and a 1.62 WHIP in 24 2/3 innings this season. He hasn't pitched in the big leagues since June 13.

6/14/2013 8:47:00 PM
Description: The Orioles sent righthander Kevin Gausman down to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.
Insight: The demotion has nothing to do with Gausman's performance. The O's just needed an extra arm in the bullpen after last night's 13-inning win against Boston. Gausman (0-3, 7.66 ERA in five starts) should be back with the big club before long.

5/29/2013 4:32:00 PM
Description: Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman has an 11.00 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP after two major league starts, but manager Buck Showalter said he remains in line to start Sunday against the Tigers, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com.
Insight: The 22-year-old was the fourth overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft. He went five innings and allowed four runs in his first start, but gave up seven earned on eight hits Tuesday night against Washington. He has allowed four homers in nine innings. Fantasy owners should steer clear of the 22-year-old Sunday.

5/23/2013 10:10:00 PM
Description: Orioles right-hander Kevin Gausman allowed seven hits and four earned over five innings Thursday against the Blue Jays in his big league debut.
Insight: The 22-year-old was the fourth overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft. Despite the mixed results Thursday, Gausman, who can get his fastball into the high 90s, should be owned in most leagues.

5/22/2013 10:29:00 PM
Description: 2012 first round pick Kevin Gausman will make his major league debut for the Orioles Thursday against Toronto.
Insight: It didn't take the 22-year-old long to make it to the big leagues. Gausman went 2-4 with a 3.11 ERA in eight starts for Double-A Bowie before his promotion.
