Description: The Marlins have designated Kevin Slowey for assignment.
Insight: Slowey has mostly been used as a long reliever this season, logging a 5.30 ERA over 37 1/3 innings. The right-hander has gone 4-15 since winning 13 games for Minnesota in 2010.

Description: Kevin Slowey will start Monday against the Braves.
Insight: Ricky Nolasco was scheduled to pitch that day but he was traded to the Dodgers on Saturday. Slowey hasn't been anything special for the Marlins this year, producing just three wins in 17 appearances. His last start came on June 12th against the Brewers.

Insight: With Nate Eovaldi and Henderson Alvarez both set to come off the disabled list, Slowey will transition into a long relief role for the Fish. Slowey (4.10 ERA) has lost four out of his last five decisions.

Description: Marlins starter Kevin Slowey is probable for Tuesday's scheduled start against Tampa Bay after suffering a strained lat last Wednesday against the Phillies.
Insight: He allowed one run in five innings before exiting. He's pitched decently despite a 1-5 record with a 3.30 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He'll be facing a Tampa Bay team that has averaged 7.6 runs per game over their last five contests and the Miami offense doesn't figure to help much. Probably best to avoid this matchup.

Description: Miami righthander Kevin Slowey picked up the win Sunday against Philadelphia.
Insight: He struck out seven over seven scoreless innings. Slowey's season ERA (1.81) is good for seventh-best in the National League.
4/30/2013 9:45:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Kevin Slowey hurled eight innings and allowed four hits and one run Tuesday in a no decision against the Mets. He struck out eight without walking a batter.
Insight: Slowey didn't pitch in the big leagues in 2012, but he has produced a tidy 2.15 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP in 37 2/3 innings this season. He has always been someone who doesn't walk many batters, so his 29/6 K/BB is not a fluke, but his low ERA is a product of a lucky .266 BABIP and a 6.8 percent HR/FB. With a 26.1 percent line-drive rate, his batted ball batting average should be much higher.
4/3/2013 10:24:00 PM
Description: Marlins starter Kevin Slowey held Washington to one earned run on four hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings Wednesday in his first major league appearance since the 2011 season.
Insight: Slowey won the last spot in Miami's rotation this spring and was bumped up due to injuries to Henderson Alvarez and Nathan Eovaldi. He should have some NL-only value but don't expect too many wins.
3/31/2013 9:01:00 PM
Description: Kevin Slowey will begin the season as Miami's second starter after posting a 2.41 ERA this spring. He was the last player selected for the rotation but the Marlins placed Nathan Eovaldi and Henderson Alvarez on the DL Sunday.
Insight: Slowey is a control artist who gives up a lot of contact. He went 12-11 with a 3.99 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in his most useful season, but that came back in 2008 for the Twins. He hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011.

Description: Twins right-hander Kevin Slowey is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a muscle strain in his abdomen that requires at least a week of rest. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
Insight: Slowey has minimal fantasy value since he is only relieving for the Twins and it appears that, physically, he has not handled the move to the bullpen well, as he has only made a handful of appearances this season.

Insight: If you are looking for pitching help in AL-only leagues Slowey could be worth a look.

Insight: This news now limits Slowey's value to deep AL-only leagues.
3/14/2011 5:29:00 PM
Description: Twins RHP Kevin Slowey worked 4 scoreless today against the Marlins only allowing 2 hits and striking out 3.
Insight: Slowey has been rumored on the trading block in recent weeks as the Twins have what looks like about 4 pitchers that are a #3 starter on most teams. With all of the pitching injuries of late it might be worth if for the Twins to keep all 6 solid starting pitching candidates.

Description: During his start yesterday, Twins SP Kevin Slowey was being scouted by the Blue Jays and by the Rockies. SOURCE: Star Tribune
Insight: If he moves to Toronto Slowey's value takes a beating, as he would have to face the Red Sox, Yankees, Rays, and improved Orioles.

Description: The Blue Jays are interested in Kevin Slowey and scouted his last start. SOURCE: JOE CHRISTENSEN
Insight: The Jays are looking to trade away a right-handed reliever could put Slowey in their last rotation spot while having Jesse Litsch start the season in Triple-A. The Twins could deal Slowey for something like Shawn Camp and a prospect.

Description: The Twins could be more likely to trade Kevin Slowey than Francisco Liriano. SOURCE: STAR TRIBUNE
Insight: The Twins have six starters for five jobs right now. If they like how Nick Blackburn looks this spring they could deal Slowey, who is a solid starter but lacks ace potential. Expect the Yankees and others to be interested - there's always a market for starting pitching.
3/4/2011 3:47:00 PM
Description: Kevin Slowey threw three shutout innings in a start against Tampa Bay today.
Insight: This was much better than his first outing. He is currently battling for the last rotation spot in Minnesota. We expect him to win the job.
3/4/2011 9:53:00 AM
Description: Twins SP Francisco Liriano is highly unlikely to be traded, but Kevin Slowey would be a logical candidate for a trade if the Twins' other starters stay healthy. SOURCE: Minneapolis Star-Tribune
Insight: Slowey is a solid pitcher with a great K-BB ratio. However, he does tend to pitch to contact, which makes him a riskier pitcher to trade for.
2/28/2011 4:40:00 PM
Description: The Twins have a battle going on for the 5th spot in the rotation between Kevin Slowey and Nick Blackburn. Slowey pitched well at times during the 2010 season but struggled toward the end of the year. The Twins RHP had a bad today going allowing 5 base runners and 3 ER over 2 innings.
Insight: This doesn't look good for Slowey since they had Blackburn pitch against the same lineup and went two scoreless innings. I would avoid Slowey for now unless he gets traded to someone like St Louis.
1/26/2011 9:05:00 AM
Description: The Twins and Slowey have agreed to a one-year, $2.7 million deal, avoiding arbitration.
Insight: This was Slowey's first year of arbitration eligibility, and he should start the season in the Twins' starting rotation. (
