Hot4/14/2014 11:02:00 PM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams only has one homer and two RBI in 50 at-bats this season but he's hitting .360 with six doubles.
Insight: Adams went 3-for-4 with a two-base hit Monday at Milwaukee. The homers will come eventually for the stocky first baseman.

Cold10/15/2013 10:57:00 AM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams is hitless in five at bats against Dodgers right-hander Ricky Nolasco with three strikeouts.
Insight: Adams hit .375 against Los Angeles during the regular season, but is just 1-for-10 in the first three games of the series. Today would be a good day to avoid him.

Hot10/10/2013 9:43:00 AM
Description: Not that the Cardinals needed it but first baseman Matt Adams provided some insurance with a towering two-run homer late in Wednesday's Game 5 win over Pittsburgh.
Insight: Sounds about right, doesn't it? Adams has been CRUSHING the ball since Allen Craig went down with a foot injury (.315, 9 HR, 17 RBI since September 1st). Now the Cardinals will play host to the Dodgers, a team Adams hit .375 against during the regular season.

Hot9/26/2013 12:13:00 PM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams has hit .338 with eight homers, 15 RBI and a 1.038 OPS over his last 21 games.
Insight: With Allen Craig out with a foot sprain, Adams has stepped into the starting lineup and has lived up to Craig's production. He has 17 homers, 51 RBI and .285/.337/.511 splits in just 284 at-bats.

9/21/2013 10:48:00 PM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI Saturday against the Brewers.
Insight: Adams left Wednesday's game with elbow soreness but he was able to return Friday and has homered in two straight games. With Allen Craig likely out for the rest of the regular season, Adams will continue to start at first base and hit cleanup.

9/20/2013 6:34:00 PM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams (elbow) is in the starting lineup Friday.
Insight: Adams left Wednesday's game but evidently his elbow soreness wasn't serious. Allen Craig (foot sprain) is still out, so the 25-year-old Adams will continue to start for St. Louis.

9/19/2013 11:39:00 AM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams left Wednesday's game with a right elbow injury.
Insight: The Cardinals are also currently without Allen Craig (foot sprain), so Brock Peterson will have to man first base in place of Adams. The 25-year-old Adams had surgery to remove bone chips in his right elbow in 2012, so this might be related.

9/15/2013 6:40:00 PM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams has hit five home runs in 11 games (eight starts) since Allen Craig suffered a foot injury on Sept. 4.
Insight: Adams went 2-for-5 with a homer and two RBI Sunday against Seattle and has 14 home runs and 44 RBI in just 246 at-bats this year.

7/12/2013 1:50:00 PM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams could see plenty of action in the final series before the All-Star break if Matt Holiday is sidelined. Adams will start at first on Friday with Allen Craig replacing Holliday in left.
Insight: Adams is hitting .317 with seven homers, 25 RBI and a .931 OPS in just 125 at-bats. In a 500 at-bat full season that would translate to a 28-HR, 100 RBI pace.

6/29/2013 10:09:00 PM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams belted two homers and drove in four runs Saturday at Oakland.
Insight: The Pennsylvania native is hitting .320 with six homers and 20 RBI in limited playing time. His presence allows the Cardinals to give Carlos Beltran routine days off to keep him fresh while not losing a big chunk of their offense, but that doesn't make Adams a fantasy option.

5/7/2013 7:27:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals activated Matt Adams (oblique) from the disabled list.
Insight: He's not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cubs and doesn't get regular playing time despite owning a .542 average and three homers in 24 at-bats this season.

5/6/2013 1:18:00 PM
Description: The Cardinals sent infielder Jermaine Curtis to Triple-A which should mean first baseman Matt Adams will come off the disabled list in time for Tuesday's series opener with the Cubs.
Insight: Before Adams came up with a strained oblique he was hitting the cover off the ball, batting .542 with three home runs and eight RBI in eight games. St. Louis will have to find a way to get his bat in the lineup on a regular basis.

5/2/2013 10:39:00 AM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams should be ready to return from the DL as soon as he's eligible. SOURCE: St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Insight: Adams is still recovering from a strained oblique but it looks like he should be back for Tuesday's series opener against Chicago. He'll begin a rehab assignment for Double-A Springfield on Friday.

4/26/2013 4:31:00 PM
Description: St. Louis first baseman Matt Adams has been moved to the disabled list.
Insight: He suffered a strained oblique earlier in the week. Adams has performed admirably in a part-time role this season (.542, 3 HR, 8 RBI in eight games). Of course, he won't be of any use to fantasy owners until he overcomes this injury.

Hot4/24/2013 10:59:00 AM
Description: Cardinals backup first baseman Matt Adams is questionable for Wednesday's game against Washington with tightness in his right oblique.
Insight: The man can flat out hit (.542, 3 HR, 8 RBI in 24 at-bats) and at some point the Cardinals are going to have to find a way to get him in the lineup. He's batted over .300 in every minor league stop from rookie league to Triple-A. He doesn't currently have a spot in the lineup with Allen Craig in front of him on the depth chart.

Hot4/14/2013 8:35:00 PM
Description: Cardinals backup first baseman Matt Adams went 2-for-4 with his third homer of the season Sunday against the Brewers.
Insight: Adams is 11-for-18 (.611) with eight RBIs in his five appearances this season. However, he doesn't have a spot in the everyday lineup with Allen Craig at first base.

4/10/2013 1:04:00 PM
Description: Cardinals backup first baseman Matt Adams is expected to start on Wednesday as Allen Craig will get the day off.
Insight: Adams, who hit a homer on Wednesday and is 7-for-11 this season with a 1.636 OPS.

6/22/2012 6:02:00 PM
Description: Cardinals first baseman Matt Adams has been optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Friday as infielder MAtt Carpenter (oblique) will come off the disabled list.
Insight: Adams hit .244 with two homers in 27 games after getting called up, but he was plenty productive in Triple-A (.340 with 9 HRs and 27 RBIs in 37 games), so he may be back at some point.

Hot5/28/2012 8:18:00 PM
Description: Matt Adams went 3-5 with a double and 3 RBIs Monday in the Cardinals' 8-2 Memorial Day win over the Braves.
Insight: Adams is now batting .382 with 1 HR and 5 RBIs since being called up to replace the injured Lance Berkman. It doesn't look like Berkman (torn meniscus) will be coming back any time soon so feel free to give Adams a try if you see that he's available on the waiver wire.

5/20/2012 8:25:00 PM
Description: Matt Adams is making his major league debut at first base Sunday night against the Dodgers.
Insight: Adams was plenty productive in Triple-A this season (.340 with 9 HRs and 27 RBIs in 37 games). Now we'll see what Adams is really made of as he'll receive most of the playing time at first base while Lance Berkman is out with a sprained knee.
