Watson rallies to lead by 2 at Augusta
Augusta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bubba Watson took a 2-shot lead to the final nine of the Masters after back-to-back 2-shot swings at Augusta National.
Watson birdied the eighth and ninth, from three and 10 feet out respectively, to move to minus-8.
Jordan Spieth, who had at least a piece of the lead for the first eight holes, stumbled to bogeys on Nos. 8 and 9 to fall two behind at 6-under. Spieth made a 12-footer for birdie on the seventh to go two clear of Watson.
Spieth missed the eighth green well right and his chip stopped 25 feet from the hole. From there, he 3-putted for bogey to dip into a share of the lead. The 20-year-old's second shot to the ninth spun off the front edge, and he chipped inside four feet.
However, he 2-putted for bogey to fall two behind.
Jonas Blixt is alone in third at minus-4. He played the first 10 holes in even-par. Matt Kuchar is one back at 3-under after playing the first 10 holes in 1-over par.
Rory McIlroy (69), Jimmy Walker (70) and two-time champion Bernhard Langer (69) shared 10th place at even-par 288. They are the leaders in the clubhouse. Joost Luiten fired a 5-under 67 in the final round to end at plus-4. That was just third round lower than 68 all week.
