Tuscaloosa, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Craig McFerrin tallied a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead the McNeese State Cowboys past the Stillman Tigers, 81-72, in an NIT Season Tip-Off consolation matchup at Coleman Coliseum.
Ledrick Eackles added 18 points and three steals for McNeese State (2-3). Kevin Hardy logged 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Jamaya Burr and Keelan Garrett also netted 13 points.
For Stillman (1-4), Stanley Magee (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Markeith Madison (13 points, 11 rebounds) both registered double-doubles, while Jeffrey Wherry and Daniel Bryant scored 15 and 12 points, respectively.
McNeese State outshot Stillman from the field in the first half, 44.1 percent to 28.6 percent, as it took a 34-29 lead into intermission.
The Cowboys further separated themselves early in the second half with a 13-0 run. They made 16-of-21 at the free-throw attempts in the final 20 minutes to help seal the victory.
McNeese State won the rebounding battle, 51-40, and outscored Stillman in the paint, 36-20.
