NCAA Game Summary - UCLA at Oregon State

(Sunday, February 2nd)

Final Score: Oregon State 71, UCLA 67

Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Hallice Cooke scored a career-high 20 points, including a pair of key free throws with 5.1 seconds remaining, as the Oregon State Beavers captured a 71-67 win over the UCLA Bruins in a Pac-12 Conference clash at Gill Coliseum.

Eric Moreland registered a double-double for the Beavers (13-8, 5-4 Pac-12) with 11 points and a game-high 14 points, adding five assists and a couple of blocked shots as the team won for the fourth time in the last five outings. Angus Brandt accounted for 13 points, Roberto Nelson 12 and Devon Collier 10 points off the bench.

The Bruins (17-5, 6-3) were paced by Kyle Anderson with 18 points and nine rebounds, but the guard also missed a key free throw down the stretch that could have prevented the team from having a three-game win streak come to an end.

A back-and-forth battle in the first half, featuring five ties and six lead changes, UCLA was able to move out to a 31-29 advantage at the break despite shooting only 36.7 percent from the floor. Both squads hit on 5-of-13 behind the 3-point line over the first 20 minutes of action, while the Bruins outscored the hosts 4-0 at the charity stripe.

OSU's 54.5 percent accuracy from the floor in the second half, coupled with a mere 1-of-8 effort by UCLA beyond the arc in the period, allowed the Beavers to take over down the stretch.

The Beavers survived despite shooting only 15-of-26 at the free-throw line and turning the ball over 18 times.
