Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - Cordarius Johnson netted 17 points to lead the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs as they downed the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans, 70-52, in a non-conference affair at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Brandon Gibson added 10 points to help the Bulldogs (1-1) pick up their first win of the 2012-2013 season. Kenneth Smith was all over the place with seven points, seven rebounds, six steals, and five assists.

The Trojans (1-1) were led by Ben Dillard's 11 points. Taggart Lockhart chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds as UALR suffered its first setback of the season.

Neither team shot the ball well to open the contest. UALR converted just 22.6 percent from the field in the first half while Louisiana Tech went 10-of-29 from the floor. A 10-4 advantage at the free-throw line in the opening period helped the Bulldogs to take a 32-20 lead into halftime.

After the intermission, the Trojans improved their field goal success rate to 40 percent. The Bulldogs connected on only 37.5 percent from the floor, but were still able to maintain a comfortable lead for most of the second half, pushing their advantage to as many as 20 points before walking away with the 18-point victory.

Louisiana Tech converted 19 UALR turnovers into 24 points. The Bulldogs also dominated in the paint, outscoring the Trojans 34-18.
