NCAA Game Summary - Georgia at Vanderbilt

(Wednesday, February 27)

Final Score: Vanderbilt 63, Georgia 62

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Kevin Bright finished with 11 points, including the game-winning jumper with under a second remaining, as the Vanderbilt Commodores overcame a double-digit second-half deficit to defeat the Georgia Bulldogs, 63-62, in an SEC clash at Memorial Gymnasium.

Kedren Johnson netted 17 points for the Commodores (12-15, 6-9 SEC), who have won three of four. Sheldon Jeter poured in 14 points off the bench for the hosts.

For Georgia (13-15, 7-8), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope tallied 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds, but he shot just 5-of-16 from the field. Since winning five in a row a few weeks back, the Bulldogs have dropped four of their last five.

Georgia shot 50 percent from the field in the first half, while holding Vanderbilt to a mere 25 percent shooting, as it took a comfortable 34-22 lead into intermission.

Trailing by 11 with under 11 minutes to play, the Commodores ripped off a 16-0 run to pull ahead, 52-47, with 5:49 left. Vanderbilt continued to lead until Charles Mann drained a pair of free throws to put the Bulldogs back up, 62-61, with 42 seconds remaining. Following an empty possession by both teams, Bright's jumper appeared off the mark as it hit the iron, but it careened off the glass and dropped in for the game-winner.

Despite shooting just 37.3 percent from the field, Vanderbilt was otherwise very efficient, going 17-of-18 from the free-throw line while committing just four turnovers.
