Final Score: Gardner-Webb 71, Western Carolina 65

Williamsburg, VA (Sports Network) - Laron Buggs scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs to a 71-66 victory over the Western Carolina Catamounts as part of the Legends Classic at Kaplan Arena.

Jonathon Moore tallied 12 points off the bench in the win for Gardner-Webb (4-3), while Michael Byron added 10 points to go with seven boards. Joshua Henley got into the mix as well with 10 points off the bench.

Mike Williams poured in a game-high 24 points to lead the way for Western Carolina (2-4) in the losing effort, while Trey Sumler chipped in 12 points for the Catamounts.

Despite trailing by as much as 25-8 in the opening half, the Runnin' Bulldogs managed to tie the contest at 37-37 heading into the break.

In the second half, Jon Moore hit 7-of-8 free throws over the final 34 seconds to hold off Western Carolina and secure a six-point win.

The Catamounts converted just 39.2 percent from the floor in the loss.
