Description: Panthers receiver David Gettis had ACL surgery last season, but that's not why he's on the PUP list to start training camp. It's Gettis' hamstring that's keeping him out, according to ESPN.com.
Insight: Panthers GM Marty Hurney said the two injuries are unrelated. The wide receiver is expected to be activated from the PUP list shortly after camp begins. He'll have a lot of work to do if he's going to have any fantasy value this season, including eclipsing Brandon LaFell on the depth chart.

Description: Panthers receiver David Gettis (ACL surgery) will begin training camp on the active/PUP list.
Insight: Gettis tore his ACL 11 months ago and missed all of last season. He caught 37 balls for 508 yards and three TDs as a rookie in 2010. Even if he does return on time for the start of the season, it's likely he'll be behind Brandon LaFell on Carolina's depth chart, so he shouldn't have too much fantasy value.

Insight: "It's disappointing because the young man had a good last few days and has a bright future in this league," HC Ron Rivera said. Gettis injured his knee Wednesday night and was carted off the field after practice. Gettis started 15 games last season as a rookie and caught 37 passes and had three touchdowns.

Insight: This tells us that the coaching staff is beyond through with Dwayne Jarrett as a starter. Jarrett is a free agent in 2011 and we don't expect him to be welcomed back. The team could try to upgrade the receiving unit through free agency and/or the draft. Smith isn't getting any younger and LaFell hasn't exactly gotten off on a high note.
