Description: ESPN'S Adam Schefter reports, via Twitter, that the 49ers acquired a "conditional" 2012 draft pick from the Rams for Bruce.
Insight: This deal paves the way for Bruce to retire as a Ram. The 49ers reportedly did not want to outright release him, which seems curious. (SportsBuff.com)

6/7/2010 3:28:00 PM
Description: The Rams have acquired Bruce from the 49ers in exchange for undisclosed compensation.
Insight: This will allow Bruce to retire as a Ram, the team with which he spent his best seasons. He will likely go down as one of the most under-appreciated wide receivers in NFL history. (SportsBuff.com)

1/19/2010 11:46:00 PM
Description: 101 ESPN Radio in St. Louis reports that Bruce said Tuesday he expects to issue a statement "in the next few days" regarding his retirement from football/
Insight: Bruce will retire in second place in receiving yards all-time, and should be a surefire Hall of Famer. (SportsBuff.com)

12/30/2009 8:15:00 PM
Description: According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Bruce stated that there's a "75 percent" chance he'll retire after the season in a conference call with the St. Louis media on Wednesday.
Insight: Bruce has been dealing with an ankle issue and being surpassed by the younger options in the 49ers' receiving corp, but the team plans to let him play on Sunday against the Rams. That would be a fitting close to his career, as he spent most of his career with the Rams. If he does call it quits, Bruce currently ranks second all-time in receiving yards and fifth in receptions and should be elected to the Hall of Fame at some point. (SportsBuff.com)

12/24/2009 10:14:00 AM
Description: According to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Bruce will be inactive for the last two regular season games.
Insight: It was thought to be possible that Bruce would play against the Rams, his former team, in Week 17. At age 37 and clearly in decline, it's possible Bruce's NFL career is over. (SportsBuff.com)

Questionable11/11/2009 8:15:00 PM
Description: According to Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, 49ers' head coach Mike Singletary said Bruce (ankle) probably will not play on Thursday night against the Bears after rolling his ankle during Tuesday's practice.
Insight: Hopefully this is not huge news for your fantasy team, as Bruce is probably not worth a roster spot in most fantasy leagues. (SportsBuff.com)

Probable11/11/2009 11:24:00 AM
Description: According to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Bruce has been dealing with an ankle injury and his playing status is uncertain.
Insight: Bruce was not on Tuesday's injury report, but Jason Hill seems to be passing him on the 49ers' depth chart anyway. This may be the end of the line for the last player to suit up as a Los Angeles Ram. (SportsBuff.com)

10/14/2009 6:09:00 PM
Description: Bruce was held without a catch last week against Atlanta.
Insight: Bruce is no longer a fantasy option, and the pending arrival of Michael Crabtree to game action may reduce his targets even further. (SportsBuff.com)

8/11/2009 1:38:00 PM
Description: Bruce was poked in the eye during Monday's practice, but prior to that he has been unscathed so far in training camp. (The Santa Rosa Press Democrat)
Insight: Even if Bruce can find a significant role in the 49ers' receiving corp, his fantasy value is limited. (SportsBuff.com)

6/3/2009 9:11:00 AM
Description: Bruce has rejoined the team for workouts this week. He was absent from earlier practice sessions.
Insight: Getting back to working out with the team might not be enough to keep the veteran in the starting lineup. Rookie Michael Crabtree and second-year man Josh Morgan -- who has impressed coaches already -- are more talented players and should get their shots as soon as they prove ready. (SportsBuff.com)

5/19/2009 3:05:00 PM
Description: Bruce wasn't with the Niners for the start of voluntary workouts on Monday, according to the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat.
Insight: Bruce led the team in receptions and yards by a healthy margin last year but could quickly get passed on the depth chart by young players such as first-round pick Michael Crabtree and second-year man Josh Morgan. At the least, Bruce's absence means more reps for the kids. Don't look for the veteran to match his 2008 numbers, which pushes him to the final third of most drafts. (SportsBuff.com)

4/1/2009 4:29:00 PM
Description: The Sacramento Bee reports that Bruce has told the team he'll be back for the coming season.
Insight: The veteran receiver ended up with decent numbers in his first season with the Niners, leading the team with 61 catches, 835 yards and seven touchdowns. His production tended to be a bit sporadic, but Bruce is still worth a fourth receiver slot or so in typical fantasy leagues. (SportsBuff.com)

Steady3/21/2009 10:39:00 AM
Description: The 49ers have set an April 1 deadline for Bruce to decide whether he wants to return for his 16th season, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
Insight: Bruce had a nice season in the Mike Martz offense last year. He grabbed 61 balls and scored seven TD's, his most since 2002. He is 36 years old, so maybe it is better know when to fold them than it is when to hold them. (SportsBuff.com)

3/16/2009 8:50:00 AM
Description: Bruce is reportedly not expected to join the Niners for voluntary workouts later this week. The veteran receiver is said to still be mulling whether to retire.
Insight: The availability of former teammate Torry Holt creates an interesting situation now. If the Niners were to reunite the St. Louis Super Bowl pair, would that be enough to yank Bruce back for at least one more season. The fact that he's still waffling on his decision would seem to indicate that it would. If Bruce does retire, young guys Jason Hill and Josh Morgan would get more opportunities. (SportsBuff.com)

Hot12/21/2008 5:52:00 PM
Description: Bruce rewarded fantasy owners who had him in their lineup with a TD, seven catches, and 61 yards.
Insight: The 36-year-old Bruce has had a comeback season of sorts with Mike Martz guiding around the field again. He had 59 catches, 827 yards, and seven TD's. He's even playable in most fantasy formats. (SportsBuff.com)

12/21/2008 1:09:00 PM
Description: Isaac Bruce has a couple of career milestones within reach today. Six catches will give him 1,000 for his career. Sixty yards will give him 15,000. Think offensive coordinator Mike Martz might like to allow him to reach those marks in St. Louis, where Bruce and Martz each attained prominence? (SportsBuff.com)
Insight:

12/17/2008 4:52:00 PM
Description: Bruce just keeps on producing solid but unspectacular numbers in San Francisco. He went for 71 yards receiving last week.
Insight: Bruce plays against a pretty poor St. Louis defense this week and should once again post respectable numbers. (SportsBuff.com)

Hot12/14/2008 10:20:00 PM
Description: Bruce continued to get a lot of attention from Shaun Hill. He had seven catches for 71 yards.
Insight: Bruce was held out of the endzone for the second straight week, but if he continues to get so many opportunities, the TD's will come. Start him if your main guys aren't playing or haven't been producing. (SportsBuff.com)

12/5/2008 1:35:00 PM
Description: Bruce had a nice game in Week 13 catching five balls for 67 yards and a touchdown. He has been solid but unspectacular all year.
Insight: Bruce is not the No. 1 WR he used to be but you could do worse because he still runs great routes and manages to move the chains. (SportsBuff.com)

Hot11/30/2008 6:17:00 PM
Description: Bruce scored a TD in his second consecutive games. He added 67 yards on five catches.
Insight: With the 49er receiving crew in flux, it seems that Bruce has stepped to the fore. He has a surprising six TD's on the season and they seem to come in spurts. He could continue to be a decent flex play as part of the Mike Martz offense. (SportsBuff.com)
