Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon (back) has been placed on injured reserve.
Insight: His season is officially over, but owners who are in dynasty leagues may want to hang onto McKinnon, as Adrian Peterson's status continues to be up in the air.

Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon has been ruled out for Week 14 against the Jets
Insight: When he didn't play in Week 13, Matt Asiata got the lion's share of the workload with Ben Tate as his backup. Expect a similar share of the rushing attempts against New York.

Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon said he would not play in Week 13 versus Carolina and was true to his word as he's been declared inactive.
Insight: Matt Asiata, Joe Banyard and Ben Tate will get the chance to show what they can do against a mediocre Panthers run defense.

Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon did not do much during Sunday's loss to Green Bay.
Insight: He had 15 carries for 54 yards and three receptions for nine yards. McKinnon has trouble finding the end zone, making him more of an RB3.

Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon should still be the No. 1 option in Minnesota despite the addition of Ben Tate, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Insight: At least for the near future, until Tate knows the plays and the blocking assignments. Tate's more likely to steal Matt Asiata's workload.

11/16/2014 5:27:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon had eight carries for 38 yards versus the Bears on Sunday.
Insight: He also caught four passes for 20 yards. The Bears defense was a lot better than expected versus the Vikings, and the Chicago offense had nearly 39 minutes of possession. That did not allow the Vikings offense to get into rhythm.

11/14/2014 1:55:00 PM
Description: Vikings coach Mike Zimmer stated running back Jerick McKinnon (lower-back injury) returned to full practice status Friday and is fine for Sunday.
Insight: He should be a safe bet to play Sunday versus Chicago.

11/13/2014 4:30:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon has been added to the injury report with an apparent lower-back injury.
Insight: While being added to the injury report mid-week is never a good sign, we feel that McKinnon is dealing with just some general soreness. Owners should make sure they check on his status throughout the rest of the week, but he should be a safe bet to play Sunday versus Chicago.

11/2/2014 7:20:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon led the team with 14 carries and 54 yards, but Matt Asiata vultured the goal line carries once again.
Insight: McKinnon did not have a great game, but did have a much better second half than first half. Over the past few weeks, McKinnon has proved to be the more talented back, but once again, Asiata scored all the rushing touchdowns.

11/1/2014 2:42:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon will continue to be part of a two-back system, according to coach Mike Zimmer.
Insight: It will be interesting to see if the Vikings stick by this statement, as McKinnon is a far superior back to Matt Asiata. With a nice matchup against the Redskins, McKinnon will be an RB2 for Week 9.

10/26/2014 6:18:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon had another nice outing during Sunday's overtime victory over Tampa Bay.
Insight: He racked up 83 yards on 16 carries, and is cemented as an RB2, heading into next week.

Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon saw a lot more work than Matt Asiata and is obviously the guy to have on your roster.
Insight: McKinnon rushed 11 times for 40 yards and caught six balls for 42 yards. Not great, but better than the 13 combined yards Asiata put up.

10/8/2014 6:01:00 PM
Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon is fully practicing this week.
Insight: McKinnon's ankle injury is not a concern for his status in Week 6. McKinnon and the Vikings, however, have a tough matchup against the Lions.

Description: Vikings running back Jerick McKinnon was limited in practice on Tuesday due to an ankle injury.
Insight: McKinnon is not in danger of missing Week 5 even on a short week. The Vikings are just resting him after he had 19 touches in Sunday's victory over the Falcons.

Description: Backup RB Jerick McKinnon showed big-time talent Sunday against Atlanta and may force the Vikings to use a shared situation in the backfield.
Insight: McKinnon rushed 18 times for 135 yards and showed the explosiveness that starter Matt Asiata doesn't have.

9/14/2014 10:49:00 AM
Description: Third string Jerick McKinnon moves up a spot with starter Adrian Peterson sidelined with legal issues.
Insight: McKinnon might actually have more talent than Matt Asiata, but expect Asiata to get the bulk of the work with McKinnon the change of pace guy. Six-to-eight attempts for McKinnon is likely.
