Description: Former Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey has agreed to a one-year deal with Indianapolis.
Insight: Don't get too excited. Sure, Heyward-Bey can help Andrew Luck stretch the field with his big play ability but he's a distant fourth on the depth chart behind Reggie Wayne, Donnie Avery and T.Y. Hilton.

3/12/2013 8:03:00 PM
Description: The Raiders have released receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, according to Will Brinson of CBSSports.com.
Insight: With 140 receptions for 2071 yards and 11 touchdowns in four seasons as a Raiders, Heyward-Bey will go down as a draft bust after being selected with the seventh overall pick in 2009. Heyward-Bey was the first receiver off the board in a draft that included Michael Crabtree (10th, SF), Jeremy Maclin (19th, PHI), Percy Harvin (22nd, MIN), Hakeem Nicks (29th, NYG), Kenny Britt (30th, TEN), Mike Wallace (84th, PIT) and Brian Hartline (108th, MIA).

12/17/2012 8:38:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey had zero catches Sunday for the third time this season. He was targeted five times.
Insight: With zero 100-yard games and just 37 receptions, Heyward-Bey has failed to build on a 975-yard, 64-catch season a year ago.

Description: Oakland wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey will start Sunday's game against New Orleans. He had been a game-time decision because of an injured hamstring.
Insight: Heyward-Bey hasn't been consistent this season but there's always a chance he could sneak into the end zone. He could be a serviceable flex play this week, especially if the Raiders are trailing in the second half and need to air it out.

Insight: Heyward-Bey injured his right hamstring in Wednesday's practice. His game is speed-based so even if he does play he'll likely be extremely limited. Rod Streater and Derek Hagan are the next guys up.

11/15/2012 2:57:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey injured his hamstring in practice on Wednesday.
Insight: He sat out on Thursday and is expected to be listed as questionable when the injury reports come out later this week. Oakland is playing New Orleans on Sunday.

11/12/2012 10:34:00 AM
Description: Oakland wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey has put together four strong games in a row, including five catches for 82 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Ravens.
Insight: Heyward-Bey missed Week 4's matchup against Denver after suffering a concussion and neck injury in Week 3 against Pittsburgh. He was ineffective in his return to the lineup in Week 6 but has averaged 68.25 yards on 3.75 receptions per game with two touchdowns in the last four.

10/14/2012 12:59:00 PM
Description: Oakland wideout Darrius Heyward-Bey is active for Sunday's game versus the Falcons. Heyward-Bey is coming back from a concussion suffered in Week 3's win over Pittsburgh.
Insight: Heyward-Bey missed Week 4's matchup against Denver and the Raiders were on bye in Week 5. Denarius Moore is the better choice if you're looking to start an Oakland receiver though we're not optimistic about either player Sunday against Atlanta.

10/2/2012 2:55:00 PM
Description: Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (xoncussion) was back at practice on Tuesday, though limited, according to Oakland beat writer Paul Gutierrez.
Insight: Heyward-Bey has yet to pass all his concussion tests, but the Raiders are on bye and this is a good indication that DHB should be back for their Week 6 matchup with Atlanta.

9/29/2012 8:16:00 PM
Description: As expected, Raiders wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey will not be available for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Heyward-Bey is still recovering from a concussion he suffered last week versus the Steelers.
Insight: Heyward-Bey took a pretty jarring hit last Sunday so it's no surprise that he won't be on the field this week. Look for Derek Hagan to see a few more targets than usual in Heyward-Bey's absence.

9/28/2012 6:20:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (neck, head) has no recollection of the hit from Steelers safety Ryan Mundy that gave him a concussion last week.
Insight: Heyward-Bey spoke to reporters Friday for the first time since being carted off the field and hospitalized overnight Sunday and he said he has no memory of the hit. The receiver is doubtful for Week 4.

9/24/2012 3:13:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey has been diagnosed with a strained neck and a concussion, according to the Raiders' official Twitter account.
Insight: We expect the Raiders to hold Heyward-Bey out for at least one game while he recovers. The receiver was involved in a brutal collision with two Steelers defenders Sunday and exited the game on a cart after staying down on the field for more than 11 minutes.

9/24/2012 2:27:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, who was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against Pittsburgh after banging heads with Steelers safety Ryan Mundy, has been released from the hospital.
Insight: Heyward-Bey caught two passes for 14 yards and a touchdown before the collision and should make a full recovery, but not in time for next week's action. Rod Streater and Derek Hagan should see added time across from Denarius Moore.

9/23/2012 7:26:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against Pittsburgh after smacking heads with Steelers safety Ryan Mundy.
Insight: It was a pretty scary hit and it appeared Heyward-Bey may have even lost consciousness after the play, though he was able to give the crowd the thumbs-up sign as he was being helped off the field minutes later. Heyward-Bey caught two passes for 14 yards and a touchdown before the collision. Somehow, Mundy was able to escape the collision uninjured.

8/4/2012 9:39:00 PM
Description: Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey finished strong in 2012, averaging 108.25 yards and 6.5 receptions per game in his final four contests last season and coming within 25 yards of a 1,000-yard season.
Insight: Heyward-Bey also had a four-game run early in the season during which he averaged 96.25 yards and 5.5 receptions per game. If you extrapolate Heyward-Bey's numbers from those eight games across a 16-game season, you get 96 catches for 1,636 yards and six touchdowns. Unfortunately, in the other seven games Heyward-Bey played, he averaged 19.6 yards per game and had two catchless games. Because of that inconsistency, Heyward-Bey shouldn't be drafted as more than a WR3 with upside.

Description: Raiders owner Al Davis is still as high on WR Darrius Heyward-Bey as he ever was, saying he is "going to be good." SOURCE: ASSOCIATED PRESS
Insight: We saw a little bit of what DHB can do when he caught five passes for 105 yards and a touchdown on Halloween against the Seahawks, but he is still as inconistent as ever. Hopefully the continuing tutelage of Hue Jackson will help DHB take a step forward. But until then, he remains a very low fantasy prospect.

Description: Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey is currently leading the team in targets with 26 through three games. SOURCE: CONTRA COSTA TIMES
Insight: Unfortunately, of those 26 targets, he's only caught ten of them, making him a very questionable fantasy option. His presence on the field is more helpful to the fantasy value of both Louis Murphy and Zach Miller.

8/20/2010 10:57:00 AM
Description: The Raiders are saying "fatigue" has caused WR Darrius Heyward-Bey to miss the last four practices. SOURCE: OAKLAND TRIBUNE
Insight: Tom Cable says he is backing off and not pushing DHB to the point where he "might get injured." Supposedly, the team claims Heyward-Bey trained too hard in the offseason, which is causing him to be worn out. Sounds like a typical Raider excuse. Heyward-Bey should be put on your "do not draft" list going forward.

8/19/2010 2:17:00 PM
Description: Raiders receivers Chaz Schilens and Darrius Heyward-Bey didn't practice again Wednesday, with Schilens nowhere to be seen and Heyward-Bey on the sidelines with his left hamstring taped. SOURCE: SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
Insight: Schilens has been nursing a sore left foot while Heyward-Bey's reason for absence was more fatigue than anything else. More than likely, these two will be the starters come Week 1, but keep an eye on Louis Murphy possibly taking some snaps away from one of these guys.

8/16/2010 12:37:00 PM
Description: Despite positive reviews during offseason workouts, Raiders WR Darrius Heyward-Bey has reportedly "disappear(ed) for stretches" in training camp. SOURCE: OAKLAND TRIBUNE
Insight: Once the pads come on, the real DHB comes out. Looks like all that positive news was for not. Owners can likely bypass him in all their leagues going forward.
