Description: The Cowboys are expected to sign Jon Kitna to backup Tony Romo and Kyle Orton, according to beat writer Clarence Hill.
Insight: Kitna hasn't played a game since 2011, but was with the Cowboys from 2009-11. He'll be 41-years-old and Dallas has to hope they never actually need him to throw a pass.

1/2/2011 4:06:00 PM
Description: The Dallas Cowboys will start QB Stephen McGee in Week 17 despite the fact that Jon Kitna is actually active and supposedly ready if needed.
Insight: This actually makes sense. They don't need a win and they really need to see what they have in the young QB. Kitna is a veteran is the Cowboys already know what they have in him. Tony Romo, when healthy, is still the starter for 2011.

Description: Despite saying that his injured oblique did feel better, Cowboys QB Jon Kitna admitted that he wouldn't have been able to play if the game was Wednesday. SOURCE: FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM
Insight: "It's one of those things where it could be feeling really bad for three or four days and then the next day it could just be gone. Hopefully, that's the case." Stephen McGee is still expected to get the start against the Eagles.

Description: The Dallas Morning News reports Cowboys' head coach Jason Garrett said Kitna (oblique) will play in Week 17 if he is healthy enough to do so.

Description: ESPN Dallas.com reports Kitna (oblique) has been diagnosed with a left oblique injury.
Insight: Kitna is questionable for Week 17 against Philadelphia, and Stephen McGee would start in his place. (RapidDraft.com)

12/25/2010 11:05:00 PM
Description: Kitna (hip) left Saturday night's game against Arizona in the second quarter with a hip injury.
Insight: Kitna returned to the game briefly, but was unable to go when the second half started. Stephen McGee replaced him in the game. (RapidDraft.com)

12/15/2010 11:06:00 AM
Description: Cowboys QB Jon Kitna is expected to stay in as the starting quarterback until the team reaches a decision on QB Tony Romo (collarbone). SOURCE: FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM
Insight: Current backup Stephen McGee's name has been tossed around, but Kitna really hasn't done anything to lose the starting job. There is still belief that Romo will be available for Week Sixteen. But until then, Kitna should be a decent low-end QB1 playing at home against the Redskins.

12/13/2010 12:00:00 PM
Description: Kitna went 24-for-35 for 242 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions along with three carries for 27 yards on Sunday night against Philadelphia.
Insight: Kitna has played solidly in Tony Romo's place, and gets a fairly favorable matchup next week against Washington. (RapidDraft.com)

12/6/2010 12:04:00 PM
Description: Kitna went 18-for-26 for 167 yards and a touchdown with four carries for 28 yards against Indianapolis on Sunday.
Insight: Kitna has been solid since taking over for Tony Romo, and could still be a fantasy asset during the playoffs. (RapidDraft.com)

11/25/2010 10:00:00 PM
Description: Kitna went 30-for-42 for 313 yards with one interception along with five carries for 20 yards against the Saints on Thursday.
Insight: This was Kitna's first touchdown-less game since taking over the starting job in place of Tony Romo (fractured collarbone), and he actually has 60 rushing yards over the past two games. (RapidDraft.com)

11/22/2010 11:00:00 AM
Description: Kitna went 18-for-24 for 147 yards with three touchdowns along with four carries for 40 yards and a touchdown against Detroit on Sunday.
Insight: Kitna has thrown three touchdowns in each of the last two games, and is definitely worth considering in two quarterback leagues for Thanksgiving Day against the Saints. (RapidDraft.com)

11/15/2010 10:04:00 AM
Description: Kitna went 13-for-22 for 327 yards with three touchdowns and one interception against the Giants on Sunday.
Insight: Kitna was able to avoid turnover for the most part as the Cowboys got a victory. If you need a QB in 12-team leagues, he is worth considering if he is available. (RapidDraft.com)

11/8/2010 10:03:00 AM
Description: Kitna went 19-for-30 for 183 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions against Green Bay on Sunday night.
Insight: The Cowboys' offense failed to get anything going in the game and Kitna has now thrown six interceptions in his two starts this season. (RapidDraft.com)

11/1/2010 11:02:00 AM
Description: Kitna went 34-for-49 for 379 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions against Jacksonville on Sunday.
Insight: Kitna put up decent numbers, beyond the interceptions, in his first start since 2008. If you're a Tony Romo owner, he could be worth adding and is startable in the right matchups. (RapidDraft.com)

10/26/2010 10:00:00 AM
Description: Kitna went 16-for-33 for 187 yards with two touchdowns against the Giants on Monday night.
Insight: Kitna replaced Tony Romo (fractured left collarbobe) in the game, and will start in Romo's place while he is out (6-8 weeks?). (RapidDraft.com)

10/26/2010 8:42:00 AM
Description: After Cowboys QB Tony Romo went down with a fractured left clavicle Monday night, backup QB Jon Kitna passed for 187 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to the Giants. SOURCE: NFL.COM
Insight: Depending on who is available on your waiver wire, Kitna really isn't that bad of an option with all the weapons he has to throw to. Owners shouldn't think this will be another "Brad Johnson" situation because Kitna still has mobility and can move around in the pocket to get out of trouble. Romo owners can do worse.

2/22/2010 12:10:00 AM
Description: Todd Archer of the Dallas Morning News reports that Kitna "has the confidence" of the Cowboys' coaches and the players.
Insight: Kitna is a serviceable backup to Tony Romo. (SportsBuff.com)

1/15/2010 1:22:00 PM
Description: According to Adam Caplan of Scout.com, via Twitter, Kitna quietly signed a four-year contract extension after being acquired by the Cowboys last February.
Insight: Kitna has not attempted a pass all season, but he does provide the Cowboys with a decent veteran backup to Tony Romo. (SportsBuff.com)

4/7/2009 12:01:00 PM
Description: After starting for the Lions for the past three seasons, Kitna returns to the role of backup, just as he was at the end of his Bengals stint.
Insight: Cowboys backups don't get much work when Tony Romo stays healthy, but Kitna could be more worthy of a spot start than Brad Johnson was if Romo goes down again. (SportsBuff.com)

3/3/2009 5:01:00 PM
Description: Kitna tells the Dallas Morning News that he's cool with playing backup for the Cowboys.
Insight: It's a good thing. Dallas likely saw the need to bring in a stronger backup candidate after Tony Romo's 2008 pinky injury all but doomed the team's playoff chances. (SportsBuff.com)
