Final Score: Houston 34, Seattle 7
Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Matt Schaub threw for 365 yards and two touchdowns, as Houston used a big first half to beat Seattle, 34-7, at Reliant Stadium.
Andre Johnson led all receivers with 193 yards on 11 receptions for the Texans (6-7), who snapped a four-game losing streak. Ryan Moats added 43 yards and a score on 10 carries.
Matt Hasselbeck finished 24-of-35 for 247 yards, one touchdown and an interception for the Seahawks (5-8), who had won two in a row. John Carlson had a TD reception, while Julius Jones was limited to 39 yards rushing on 10 touches in defeat.
Houston took a 7-0 lead on the first play from scrimmage when Schaub hit a streaking Johnson for a 64-yard touchdown. Kris Brown's 29-yard field goal capped the Texans' next drive for a 10-0 game, and Moats rumbled in from the four for a 17-0 game before the end of the quarter.
"It was great for us to start off the game the way we did," said Schaub. "It really sets the tone for the game and gets everyone involved. It gives the offense a boost and gives the defense a lot of emotion."
Early in the second, another Schaub-to-Johnson connection, this time a 17-yard TD, made it 24-0.
Houston's next trip into the red zone didn't prove fruitful, as Brown's 26- yard attempt was blocked, and Seattle converted its drive into a touchdown on Hasselbeck's four-yard connection to Carlson.
Brown also missed a 48-yarder as the half expired, but recovered to hit from 31 yards out late in the third quarter for a 27-7 game.
Bernard Pollard picked off Hasselbeck later in the stanza, and raced 70 yards for a touchdown and Houston led 34-7.
Houston's defense came up big while shutting down the visitors in the fourth quarter, stopping Seattle on 4th-and-8 from the Texans' eight, 4th-and-16 from the Texans' 22, then 4th-and-2 from the Texans' 35.
"We're going to find out about a bunch of people here in the next three weeks," said an angry Seahawks head coach Jim Mora. "As slim as our playoff aspirations are, we're still gonna fight to make it to 8-8, and we're going to find out who can be a part of the process going forward."
