Mets, Davis make a deal for 2014

Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets and infielder Ike Davis have agreed to a one-year contract for the 2014 season, avoiding arbitration.

Davis, 26, will be paid $3.5 million dollars for his services next season, according to the New York Post.

He batted .205 with just nine home runs and 33 RBI in 103 games in 2013, just one season removed from setting career highs of 32 homers and 90 runs batted in during 156 games in 2012.

Heading into his fifth major league season, Davis is a lifetime .242 hitter with 67 homers, 81 doubles and 219 RBI in 442 games.
