 Kirkland,  WA  (Sports Network)  - Longtime  University of Washington football
 coach Don James has died.
 James,  who  had pancreatic cancer, died  at home Sunday morning surrounded by
 family, the school said. He was 80.
 In  18  seasons at Washington from  1975-1992, James had a record of 153-58-2,
 winning  six  conference titles and a  share of the 1991 national championship
 with Miami.
 James  also coached Kent State and was inducted into the College Football Hall
 of Fame in 1997.
 Current  Huskies  coach Steve Sarkisian said  in a statement he and his family
 were  sad  to hear  of James'  death and  said his  accomplishments as a coach
 "stand alone."
 "But  what made  him truly special is the  quality of man he was away from the
 game,"  said  Sarkisian. "The  guidance and leadership  he instilled into this
 program  and community are still felt today, and will continue to be felt here
 for a long, long time."
 James  is survived  by his  wife of  61 years,  Carol; three  children and  10
 grandchildren, according to the school.
