Muller's brace helps Germany erase England

Steven Gerrard and England fell to Germany, 4-1.
Bloemfontein, South Africa (Sports Network) - A pair of second-half goals from Thomas Muller helped Germany advance to the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup on Sunday at Free State Stadium with a 4-1 win over England.

Miroslav Klose got the Germans off the mark with a goal in the 20th minute before Lukas Podolski added a second 12 minutes later. England then responded through Matthew Upson before the most controversial moment of the match arrived seconds later.

Frank Lampard chipped a shot over the head of German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer that struck the underside of the crossbar and bounced over the goal line. However, the goal was ruled out and Muller went on to score twice in the second half to seal the win. continue>>
