Host City: Mangaung/Bloemfontein
Stadium Capacity: 45,058
(Sports Network) - Home of one of South Africa's most well-supported teams, Bloemfontein Celtic, Free State Stadium will house five group-stage matches, as well as a round of 16 encounter.
Built in 1952, Free State hosted the 2009 Confederations Cup semifinal between Spain and the United States, which saw the Americans pull off the upset of the tournament to reach the final.
The stadium has been the site for both Rugby World Cup matches in 1995 as well as the African Cup of Nations one year later, and it is part of an athletic complex that also offers cricket, tennis, and swimming facilities, among others.
In preparation for this summer's World Cup, Free State Stadium underwent a moderate upgrade that increased its capacity to over 45,000, while a new scoreboard and upgraded floodlights were also added.
