Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Thierry Henry scored and added an assist on
Sunday as the New York Red Bulls rolled to a 4-1 result over the Houston Dynamo
at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Coming off a 2-1 victory against their heated Eastern Conference rivals D.C.
United, New York was on the front foot early on and grabbed the lead just 14
minutes into the contest.
Johnny Steele got the scoring started when he deftly laid the ball off to
an on-rushing Eric Alexander, who took a quick touch and lofted it over the
head of Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall, who was caught off his line.
But Houston got the goal right back just four minutes late when Alexander Lopez
found Jason Johnson wide open on the left side of the box behind the New York
defenders. Johnson settled with one touch and beat Red Bulls 'keeper Luis
Robles low to the left to put the sides back on level terms.
After the break, the visitors took the lead just two minutes into the second
half when Henry finishes past Hall into the lower right corner.
New York put the result to bed just before the hour mark when Bradley Wright-
Phillips sent a nice through ball behind the Houston defense to Steele, who
took a quick touch, rounded Hall and fired it into the gaping net for the two-
The Red Bulls then added a fourth two minutes from time when Lloyd Sam ran onto
a nice ball from Peguy Luyindula and ripped it home.
The result pulls New York even with Sporting Kansas City at the top of the
Eastern Conference with 45 points, while the Dynamo remain on the outside of
the playoff picture, stuck on 37 points.
