Camilo claims Player of the Week award
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Camilo Sanvezzo was named the Player of the Week on Monday for Week 32 of the 2013 MLS season.
Camilo scored a pair of goals in the second half for the Whitecaps to help the club earn a 2-2 draw with the Portland Timbers on Sunday, keeping Vancouver in playoff contention.
The first goal came in the 76th minute from a free kick that took a deflection off of Portland's Rodney Wallace before settling into the corner of the net, which tied the match at 1-1.
Portland regained the lead shortly after, but Camilo once again had a response as he scored on a spectacular volley from just inside the penalty area to earn his team a point.
Camilo has now earned Player of the Week recognition three times this season, the most in MLS.
The MLS Player of the Week award is selected each week by the North American Soccer Reporters. The group consists of members of online, print, television, and radio media.
