Towson names Leonard AD
Towson, MD (Sports Network) - Towson University announced the appointment of Tim Leonard as its new athletic director during a Friday press conference.
Leonard comes to Towson after a five-year term as the senior associate AD at Southern Methodist, during which he served as the Mustangs' interim athletic director from May to August of 2012. The Idaho native has also previously worked as an associate AD at Central Florida prior to his stop at SMU.
"Tim has extensive experience creating visions for athletics and then creating, inclusively, strategic plans to get them accomplished," said Towson president Dr. Maravene Loeschke. "This is what we all unanimously saw in Tim: Experience across the spectrum of athletics, integrity, passion and energy. He has a devotion to students and their welfare on all levels. He has an unfailing commitment to excellence. He is a role model for all of us, particularly our student-athletes."
Leonard replaces Mike Waddell, who resigned in May to take a senior associate AD position at Arkansas.
