Johan Franzen scored the lone goal for the Red Wings, who have lost two in a row. Jimmy Howard turned aside 19-of-23 shots.
Iginla's first goal of the season came 3:24 into the game. He knocked in an Anlex Tanguay rebound to make it 1-0.
The Flames converted on a 5-on-3 power play midway through the opening stanza. Mike Cammalleri controlled the puck at the top of the right circle before sliding a pass to the front of the net for Glencross, whose tip-in made it 2-0.
Detroit finally got on the board at the 12:37 mark of the second frame. Franzen took a pass from Henrik Zetterberg and beat Kiprusoff with a backhander for a man-advantage score.
Wideman put the Flames ahead by two again with just 23.1 seconds remaining on a blistering shot from just inside the blue line that eluded Howard.
Giordano added an unassisted power-play goal late in the third period to account for the final margin.
"I thought we did some good things tonight, but we made some mistakes and they shot in our net without any question about it, so we're chasing the game," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said.
The Red Wings split four meetings with the Flames last season ... Kiprusoff and Franzen collided at the net near the end of the second period ... Detroit defenseman Ian White returned after missing five games due to a lacerated left leg ... Hudler signed a four-year deal with the Flames in July. He spent seven seasons in Detroit, scoring 87 times and collecting 214 points in 408 games.
